Ouch!! I believe mine are 10kg rear and possibly 8 front although that is a guess for the fronts. I have some Swift springs from previous shocks so I can swap them around if needed. Think I have some 9kg rears and some 6 and 7kg fronts.

Front spring rates should be higher. Maybe someone installed the springs on the wrong shocks.

Holy crap. 18kg springs is about 1000#. That is crazy firm. The highest streetable coilovers I heard of were 9kg in the rear, 12kg in the front.

Mini update, while the car is back for some more work on the cage so I've been left collecting parts for the rebuild whenever that happens. Managed to get hold of a set of the Toyota AE111 TBs, so I've got another TTT (Techno Toys Tuning) manifold to match it. These already have trumpets and some basic filters as well as the fuel rail, injectors etc with them.

I'll have a go at mocking them up when the car gets back. Also managed to get hold of a few more bits including the Bride seats I had before, so at least they can just get chucked back in and I know they fit perfectly and work well.

Also stumbled upon a new car ... not exactly planned, and it takes my MX5 count back up to 4 but this one works and was the right price so at least I've got something to trundle around in for a bit.

Nothing exciting, just a fairly standard 1990 V Limited but it has 11 months MOT and from a blast around the lanes tonight the engine pulls really well and everything does what it's supposed to. As it's on the road already I can spend a bit of time tidying it as I go, and give it some use while the other one is being worked on.

    Russell.

So I accidentally bought 2 more MX5s today ... it's all changed around so quick I'm losing track myself, but currently ...

1 - 1991 1.8 V limited in British Racing Green. My main car, now caged and some throttle bodies are being fitted to it.

2 - 1990 1.6 V limited in British Racing Green. Cheap but mostly solid, road legal and everything!

3 - 1991 2.0 Eunos in Silver. Zetec conversion, awaiting a new home.

4 - 1990 1.6 Eunos in Silver. Imported in 2008 then taken off the road ( for a change of brake pads) in 2009. Garaged since so very solid but in need of recommissioning.

5 - 1997 1.8 Harvard in Silver. Very tatty but complete ... one of only 400 made I think. This one comes with TV, DVD and 17" alloys no less!

Soooo .... not sure exactly where this is leading, but there are cars coming up cheap once in a while and there are a few people doing the rounds on the forums and facebook, buying them all and breaking them which seems a shame especially if they are solid cars.
I'm hoping to sort these cars out properly and put them back on the road so they can live another 20 odd years. And maybe I'll sort mine at some point but I'm quite enjoying messing about with the others as well so no rush I guess!

Haha, that's quite a collection. Mind you, I am after a V-spec Nardi (or a MOMO Indy), worn out would be perfect as I want to re-do the wood in a darker hue to match my OEM set, so if you want to let one go for cheap, let me know!

Latest updates ... got the car back from having the cage fixed (wasn't happy with it first time around) and now they have managed to crack the screen! Gutted particularly as it's a heated front screen so will be hard to replace.

Decided to sell the TBs (I know, again!!) mainly because a really nice supercharger setup will be heading my way shortly. Not sure if he had a build thread on here but a very good friend of mine built a kit for a Rousch MP90. He built if for his 1.6 but remade the mounts for a 1.8, so that kit will be headed onto my car! It gave 260bhp at low pressure on a 1.8, so I'll stick with that to start with, but with the right engine mods it should be good for over 300

Been trying to clear out a few cars recently so the cheap BRG went and so did the Harvard. A sale is agreed on my low mileage 1991 Eunos as well and I think I'm doing well. Then I get a phone call from a friend who used to sell MX5s and fit superchargers for a living. He's gone into property development and is also having a clear out. I'm already getting ready to say "yes " to whatever he's going to offer me ... he has an FM2 car, an MP62 charged car, 2 coldside charged cars, an RS Limited, a stunning Mk2 California and a load of others I've forgotten about.
He's phoning about one of the others ... do I want his 300zx engined car ... hmmm, let me think about that for a second ...
