I've been running a Mazdaspeed setup for a few months now...

    Mazdaspeed 4-1 exhaust manifold (type-1) w/ heatshield

    Mazdaspeed sports sound muffler (type-1)

The size is not too much bigger from STD

Also put in a magnaflow bolt on high flow cat with it. The mid pipe is a custom job (2 inch, no resonator).

whole system is 50mm/2inch all the way from headers to muffler, with a 70mm/2.75inch exit.
these were the first gen of parts avail for na6ce by mazdaspeed, and by design they are all black. The exhaust itself is made by Yumex (which make the std oem muffler on na6) so I expected it to be a very mild upgrade.

Performance is good, and the sound is very close to stock except with a little more bass. Idle is silent, on cruising speeds its identical to oem but significantly louder at wot. The rasp is still there but there is more bass during decel and mid rpm accel. Low end is lacking (prob due to the 4-1 header design), mid range felt almost the same but top end 5k+ was noticeably better!

(I have since put in a drop in corn*s ecu and low & mid range is back)

The rev matching on downshifts... mmmm gotta love dat sound

Hi guys, I just picked up a new exhaust header, muffler and heat shield for my car for about 220nzd all up but I'm unsure of the muffler and heat shield manufactures, can anyone shed some light? It looks like a Car Make Corn*s Ver. I muffler but the flanges vary slightly from others I have seen, could it be just a small variation done in the CMC workshop? As for the heat shield I have had Revlimiter Adam mentioning he has seen an aftermarket item very similar to this but a lot of others think it could be a home made one based on the look.

the heat shield to me looks homemade. Though very well done. Is there any sort of company stamp or etching on it?

I love the horn! here's a short clip of it in action https://instagram.com/p/3YS8XIlGJE/ hehe

There's no sign of any company markings on it unfortunately, home made is fine with me, personally

I think it's the heat shield that comes with the Maxim Works header, from memory, there is no branding on it.

Ah thanks Jimmy Vee! Looks identical to mine. I now just need to confirm the manufacture of the muffler, hehe. The only thing that makes mine different from every other CMC*s single piece muffler is the fact that one of the flanges are in a different location.

That heat shield might be as effective as my corn*s heat shield... =). I just need to get off my lazy ass and fabricate a heatshield similar to Rev's to box in my Monsterflow CAI. It get suuuuper hot in my engine bay.

Pit Crew Racing, gutted cat, RB intake, 1.6. Volume is pretty low because the video was shot from a decent distance, turn it up. I'll try to get another one some time, if I remember.

Speedy, the Jet's Integral Kobe N1 Spec Ver.3 Type-R sounds so much better. IMO. Less raspy and deeper.

But I have always drooled over the center exhaust. Thanks FWD for your clip. Yes, I had to turn up the volume. But I so want one!

I love a raspy exhaust, if the car revs up faster than a standard Miata. Thanks for the clips, speedypenguin!
