This build is amazing. Love the pics of the wire tuck through the fenders. Think that hole was big enough? lol

subscribed, doing everything right from scratch, love it!
Good stuff.
The front brake setup has been quite a long process and has taken me way more time than i wanted. But I want to get everything right the first time so I gotta be patient i guess. As for the calipers, thanks a lot Boosted. I had the seals and pistons pulled, then had the casting below the "mazda" removed, then off to powdercoat they went. That is two stage, chrome powder then candy red powder. when all done, I carefully sanded the powder off the letters and gave them a slight polish. also, thanks for calling this an awesome build.
Thanks Fitftw, doing the wire tuck through the fender is the only way to go in my opinion. As for the hole, it had to be that big since i reused the original wire harness rubber gromet from the firewall.
Yep, trying to get absolutely everything done right the first time and doing a full build from scratch is something I wanted to do on my first miata and didn't get a chance to so I new I had to do it with this one.
Thanks iRoadster
So as far as body mods is concerned, i've got a few tricks up my sleeve still, but the plans i can divulge begine with this front bumper:
then, if you look at my first miata project and pay attention to the front bumper, you might figure out what these molds are for:
depowered power rack, clean and painted and ready for reassembly:
What a sight:
and thats just part of my parts stash.
So here is more info on the build.
here are some pics of while I was in the process of stripping the paint on the chassis:
I wanted to make sure the shell was clean before I went any further on the project, so I stripped it down to bare metal. I found a dent on the passenger rear quarter, which I already pulled and filled and the rest of the shell was pretty clean. its not been primered and waiting for paint. The only rust I found was on the windshiled frame. luckily it wasn't too bad and i have already taken care of that part of the body work.
here are some pics of the rust repair on the windshield frame:
here are pics of the rust before it got cut out:
and a sneak peak at other projects I have in the works:
and this
which is inspired by this:
Once I have more info to update the project, I'll post it up.
Very Nice Work!!!!!....more please
Lots of work going on here. I can't wait to see more!
Ok, so not much going on with the project at the moment. trying to hammer out some details for the build before i continue and gotta get some funds together for the next round of parts, but here are just a few pics to keep you all entertained with my work so far.
Here is the gauge meter hood panel i've been working on. its close to completion, just need to do a little more smoothing on it and it'll be finished.
and here are some shots of the exhaust i'll be running. I couldn't find anything on the market that really met what I wanted to achieve for the exhaust so I figured i'd piece together something custom that gave me the look i was trying to achieve. The only thing i'm keeping a secret for now is how the rear setup will look when completed.
What do you all think of the parts so far?
Nice work so far, keep it up!
Love that gauge pod! You should make a form and start making fiberglass ones for forum members.
thanks dustin.
thanks about the gauge pod. i've thought about producing these but my free time is taken up trying to get the project itself completed. I am pretty good with fiberglass and I will be taking a mold of the piece once I work out all the imperfections in it and maybe you'll see me as a vendor/sponsor in the future.
stay tuned as there is more to come soon. made a trip to get some material today for a small interior project that you all might find interesting.
i think i know how the rear will look like and the exhaust will be placed! ;)
i would say, there was somebody inspired by mori san. ;)
are you planing on building somethingf like this?

Good guess but not a winner. The rear will be subtle yet aggressive and nothing like that car you posted. That is an interesting car for sure though, but definitely not feeling the exhaust that would be trunk mounted. My car will be actually driven and I am going to need my trunk space, so running the exhaust through the trunk in out of the question.
