I encourage that plus if you're married, make sure to park it on the kitchen table. Chicks dig that.

NA6CE 1992 Form vs Function Build and History

Car is on the ground. New motor, trans, and clutch are in.

Brief overview. Today we built a complete engine, pulled the old motor and trans. Installed the new stuff.

Tomorrow I will button it up, I think it will be done around noon.

Awesome work. I love those days with friends where you all just jump in and kick some ass on a car. It's been 13 years since I've seen you or Yancey and the others.

The job is complete. The results were the same as the last. I suspect a stuck injector and or bad ECU. I have sourced the ECU, hoping to secure a set of injectors soon.

    I'm exhausted. More later.

Heh! Yeah, Bryan was there. He transported the lift for me across town in his $250 Subaru.

Funny, too, I asked Bryan to remove the center console and shifter so we could prep to remove the engine/trans. It's a Nakamae console. When I looked in after he left, I found the console COMPLETELY disassembled; screws, individual switches, trim, etc. I had to laugh, because all I needed was just that console removed and placed on the floor. . Yancey is a MACHINE when it comes to this heavy Miata work.

    Alright, update time.

I was pretty beat when I made it to work this morning. That was a vicious Miata thrashing without the expected results.

The good news is the engine is VERY healthy. Oil pressure is strong. The transmission is a beauty. The cooling system is tits, even if the reroute wasn't installed.

The bad news is I have a fueling issue. I suspect bad/stuck injectors. By my reasoning, this was the cause of the failure in the first place. I believe one or more injectors stuck open, flooding the engine. It sort of hydro locked and lifted the head.

I ordered injectors tonight, with new seals, FPR, and they should be here Wednesday, maybe Thursday.

The job so far has included a rebuilt motor, all new seals, belt, water pump, etc., fresher low-mileage transmission, new ACT clutch, pressure plate, TO bearing and FW bearing. New aluminum Koyo race radiator, new t-stat, coolant, hoses, coolant. New injectors, plugs, FPR, injection harness, new-used sealed ECU, newer CAS, O2 sensor, fluids, filters, fuel hoses, newer IAC, repaired previous wiring patches, and assorted bits.

It will run soon, just need to be careful. It will be good.

Ouch... If it actually hydrolocked, you might wanna take a look at your bottom end as well, make sure that everything is in order down there...

Yes in the MS. Gotta work some stuff out first. Crawl before I run, etc.

As for the old lump, yeah I am interested to tear it down in the near future. I will either go full-retard on it or part it out and build a Bp6d.

I have borrowed a good friend's car, a stock, low mileage '91. I have eliminated all the sensors and ECU by swapping them into his car. I believe there is a broken or shorted wire between the ECU and engine. The car is dumping in a ton of fuel and the timing is way wrong (timing belt alignment is perfect).

I may be staring at a harness swap.
