I used to use one, now I just know when not to speed, LOL My problem was I used the radar as an "im undetectable" and ended up with too many tickets, if I dont have one im not as inclined to speed
I undersatand that but I just learned how use it as a tool . Kinda like setting a rabbit out in front of you . Gotta love those showoff european rides.

I have a V1 in my girlfriends car, Escort 8500 x50 in the truck(DD) with a ZR4 laser shifter, and a 9500ix in the miata.
Out here Ka and laser are the big tickets, although it seems like theyre slowly phasing out Ka and solely using laser.

I'm with Phat. I used to use them, but after realizing I sped more with them, Is topped using them. I also spoke with a few LEOs. They each told me they will give you a ticket guaranteed if you have one. They also know how to spot the "hidden" ones.
If you stay 9 mph or less under, you're good to go. A few minutes saves isn't worth the hassle of tickets, court fines and jacked insurance rates.
I have a cheepo one, and every time it beeps it reminds me to slow down, and "keep it legal".
I've only got a warning once in 28yrs of driving and then It was FHP who never gives them supposedly

Yeah, but us OGs usually get a little break from the cops anyways. ;)
If you cruise at 5mph over, usually they won't mess with you. I always cruise the middle lanes and do about 75mph and you can always see a trooper come up and pass me without even blinking an eye. I don't believe there is a reason to drive fast. Our cars are too pretty to be just a blur.![]()
That's my problem 5 over isn't happening but I guess if you wanna play you have to pay sometimes . I dont hold it against the officers though

I guess I just do the math. If I'm going somewhere close, saw 20 miles, speeding isn't worth the time savings. If I'm going far, say 100 miles or more, it adds up. when I drove west coast to east coast in May, I would stay at about 10mph over. When you're driving 10+hours/day, it adds up.
10mph over isn't that bad most of the time anyways. If you just blend in, you won't stand out. But with a blue miata, you might stick out a little.
My bad habits are the back roads playing . On the hwy about 10 over

Sorry man. I can't help with that addiction.
It's interesting the attitudes toward radar detectors, not just in here but in the USA generally. I've always appreciated having one but I've never once thought if it as a notorious device, used by scofflaws to shave a minute off drive times. Really, if anyone thinks they need one to get to work on time then that problem speaks more to their generally poor organisation.
Rather, I just want to know what's ahead if possible. Personally, I drive around the speed limit, usually below or a little above to keep pace with traffic but at my age (and today's my birthday - condolences appreciated), you'd never see me weaving in an out and trying to beat everyone to the red light and endangering everyone. I always wish there were a cop at that moment to get them off the road.
What happens instead, especially nowadays with strained budgets is that cops are going for the easy targets if you will, picking a stretch of road that the public typically drives at least 5 over to perform "emphasis" enforcement (read revenue stops).
I just want to know about those ahead of time, not because I was doing anything wrong but because I don't want to be the victim of political circumstance.
