Few more jobs completed. I met Marc from Carbonmiata this week as he personally delivered some Carbonmiata OEM fibre glass front wings. They are not fitted yet but I did get fitted the Carbonmiata seat belt extenders.

The R Limited has its first decent clean, a bit of a t-cut and a layer of polish. Also it has now got a UK radio fitted and a friend gave me a BBS centre wheel cap locking/unlocking tool. Overall impressions are its a solid roadster, considering how modified my other 3 are it feels quite strange sitting in one with standard seats, dash layout.

I have had a few R Limiteds/RS Limiteds slip through my hand recently as decided I don't want them only to change my mind later. Think this one even if I don't do much with it for the time being should be kept as nice and original.

    Jobs it will need doing:

    1. Fog light is missing.
    2. Front side light bulb needs replacing.
    3. Seen this only once before on a R Limited but the tops of the bonnet and boot lid have faded a little. I had hoped a t cut might do the trick but not made much different. I am wondering if a decent mop might bring the colour back up. Rest of the panels are good.
    4. Sills whilst not that bad need doing.
    5. Boot carpet is missing, the previous owner took it out as had a sub fitted, does mean when I bought it I easily checked the boot was rust free, which it is.

In some ways mate I have too many cars. A year ago I told my other half where they were as some had been hidden! The R Limited was a bit of a bargain and whislst I shouldnt have bought it think Id have kicked myself later on if I didn't. Nice touch on the cat back exhaust system too. Better look under the car to check its cleans and turns out its a RS*R Invidia exhaust. Looks like RS*R and Invidia used to work together on exhuast systems but went there separate ways. Invidia still do exhaust systems though only for the MK3 now on the MX5 range. It's a quiet exhaust, nearest sound is probably to a HKS Hi Flow Silent exhuast Ive had previously.

Some new parts in from Maxime REV9 Autosport. This time some alloy RS Products heater control knobs to match with some of the other alloy trim in the car from Zeromotive, Nakamae, etc. Not the best of photos and rightly or wrongly took the dash to bits to fit them as had to get the old control knobs off which meant radio centre console out. Happy with the rest and just a nice finishing touch for the interior.

Another change to the interior of my black roadster and again in keeping with the retro interior. This time something I had been thinking of for a while but got accelerated after I fitted the RS Product heater control knobs as had me focused on that area of the interior and highlight whilst the Alpine car stereo did all the jobs necessary looked out of place. I had resisted doing this change as liked the Alpine radio but a drive over to Essex this morning and a purchase was made followed by getting home, taking the dash board back out and the car is now fitted with a retro style car radio. Think it works well with the other styling cues.

Went to see Chris and RE Worx yesterday. Chris owns and runs this RX7 specialist here in Portsmouth, England but is also a car enthusiast, has a mx5 and works on a multitude of other cars. Last year Chris did the Pitcrew conversion for me so was nice to pop back and see him.

This time I went to see Chris as:

    1. Has the Maximworks/mazdaspeed manifold fitted that I'd bought beginning of the year to replace the HKS manifold on it. The Maximworks manifold is dyno proven to be the best performaning mx5 exhaust header. I've used the car for 6 hours over the last 2 days and whilst I cannot notice any obvious difference the pick up and general torque seemed pretty good.

    2. I had a set of 1.8 calipers, pads and discs fitted. Key reason for doing this was its always a good upgrade and the discs and calipers were from a breaker which had only had the refurbed/new parts fitted around 200 miles ago according to the service history so a worthwhile Maintenance job. It has also cleared a slight wheel vibration I was sometimes getting which Chris noticed was a sticky caliper on my old 1.6 set up.

    3. Replaced the brake fluid and fitted new Hel Performance stainless braided brake lines as obvious upgrade to do when fitting 1.8 brake conversion to a 1.6.

    4. Also wired in the Smith gauges so the volt meter, clock and amp meter are all working.

Some photos as no post would be the same without them.

Next up I still have the RS Products heater panel to fit while I am also thinking later in the year I may fit the performance 5 frame rails to this (like the flyin Miata version) as corns roadster has them and the silver car gets them fitted next month to help protect the chassis rails.

Chris also commented it was clean underneath so maybe will get it under sealed too once funds allow.

As the weather has been good today cracked on and fitted the RS Products heater control panel and heater control knobs in the corns roadster. I have the same heater control panel to go in the black roadster so will wait for another nice day to fit in the other one. Nice quality parts and a subtle improvement for the corns roaadster.

Next up need to get a new radiator fitted in the R Limited as that has developed a hair line crack at the top so is leaking water. Imagine so will only get worse so have bought a Koyo factory similar radiator from a local motor parts shop to go in next week.

After a Sunday morning lay in following a mean curry last night with a side order of fresh hot chilli's I plucked up the motivation to fit the RS Products heater panel in the black roadster today seeing as the rain stopped.

I had gone for the black version (as opposed to the silver alloy version) of the heater panel (like which has gone in the Corns Roadster) as I believe the black panel works well with the black section of the Nakamae console, the black KG Works dash cluster while the alloy RS Product heater control knobs also then work in tandem with the Zeromotive alloy vent control knobs.

What should be a simple job becomes a lot more of a pita with the black roadster as I have to disassemble the nakamae console. However job done I am happy with the result and think it was the right choice to replace the standard part.

The R Limited saw some unexpected love today as this time last week (Friday) I started the car up in the lock up and noticed some steam coming off the radiator. Lucky I guess it was before I drove the car as there was a stress fracture at the top of the radiator that would no doubt have only got worse.

Therefore I ordered in a new Radiator from Eurocarparts which was a good price and got some new red silicone radiator hoses as figured the old hoses would probably be perished coming off the car. All fitted again, new hoses and fresh coolant. Car also is no sporting a hard top while a mate in the trade did me a cheap job on respraying the boot lid and bonnet so the faded paint is no more.

Compared to my other 3 cars I wondered why I have this one but I think being my favourite limited edition model it is worth saving and no I have spent some money on it has fallen into the emotionally attached car mode! lol.

    Some photos.

Also fitted a Moroso Performance alloy expansion tank in the black roadster. I had been after this bit of engine bling for a while and had been looking at the IL Motorsport version but they were always out of stock. A visit to Moss Europe this week and purchase was made as it is a lovely looking bit of kit!

Thanks. I went to Moss Europe's trade counter and then chap behind the counter brought it out to show me and that was the deal maker. Lovely made bit of kit. Supposedly lighter then the standard unit and whilst it is more heat resistant don't think its important on that side of the engine though I did have a failed plastic expansion tank in the corns roadster when I first bought it but that is the only time I have seen it in the 50 plus roadsters I have owned.

Also met up with a mate this morning who had broken what was once a nicely tricked up eunos roadster r limited. After fitting the rs product interior parts to the corns roadster last week I realised the handbrake handle looked pretty worn. My mate had for sale a carbon hand brake handle which I believe is made by mazdaspeed. As such it goes nicely with the mazdaspeed parts in the engine and the instrument cluster while the car also has a fair few other carbon parts so in keeping with the theme.

It's a custom replica of the m2 1001 carpet console. I really like the part and the m2 1001 replica radio console.

Is that RS Products HVAC panel custom? Looks great either way behind the trap tombstone.

Nice find on the handbrake handle too, now you need to find the carbon shift knob to match!

Thanks mate. Hope your keeping well and life without the mx5 is ok! I appreciate the parts you have sold me like the m2 replica parts above and the nardi wheel as some of my favourite it my roadsters.

The heater panel is the type 2 version. I have the type 1 in the silver roadster.
