Ferrari 250 MX5 Conversion Miata Kit Car

When I posted in this thread back oh so long ago, I stated I wasn't so sure about this kit. That was before I'd seen Andreas's Mx250 Coupe build. I think this looks great. Particularly like how he's removed some of the Fezza scoops and changed the grille. What brand the kit is based on, has become much more ambiguous.

    And finished with stripes

Yeah I like that green roadster from Sweden. Seen a few semi-built of these cars for sale on eBay UK sometimes. Often they are not bad money when you consider the cost of the kit. Trouble is whilst I don't mind the kit from some angles the proportions look wrong to me so ive always gone cold. However the green one has shown how it could be done effectively as I'd have that.

    I agree AgentOrange.
Too much overhang, particularly at the rear.
Designed that way to fit the rear guard scoop section, I guess.
You can see how far in this prototyping picture.

And because this thread hasn't seen it yet, here's a convertible one.
It's Tribute Automotive's demo car in primer and then completed for sale.

Is it me, or does that look just awful? It's very recognizable as a Miata, except with a ton of plastic added to make it look hokey and bulbous. To each his/her own; but... YUK! ;)

I think the rear fenders are a bit too wide. Looks pretty good. I dig the front more than the back.

In my humble opinion, the Miata is a really nice looking car. While this might be an interesting 'project', it turns the Miata into something that looks like a kit car. I can appreciate a nice Cobra Daytona Coupe or Ferrari 250 GTO as much as anyone; but the extra overhang on this 'kit' just looks odd.

    I am now ducking ...

If you're building a kit car to try to "fool" people into thinking your Miata is a more expensive car, what might help is shaving the door handles & replacing them with solenoids that work off your key fob.
Otherwise the chrome door handles (which I think look great on the original car) scream "MIATA"...no matter how much camouflage you try to put on it.
