    Remember this old thread?!

I got off track for a couple of years. Had a few things I wanted to do with my life, so I put the car on hold. Bought a flats boat, took ownership of the property where my business is located, got married, and had a baby. I have been very, very busy!

Had a pretty good year last year, so I thought it was time to start working on the car again. Last week I finished putting my motor together. Now I am trying to get all the accessories sorted out before I start working on the chassis.

The car kind of deteriorated a bit. I will have to sand down a big portion of the car, and clean things up. I stopped working on the car when I was in the middle of a wiring project. It's a big Ole mess! Hope to have more updates soon.

This is awesome. Never seen anyone drag racing a single throttle body N/A Miata. Also I love the attention to the details.

It's embarrassing how long it's been since I started on this project, but I am not giving up.

I read thru this entire thread last night to get back up to speed.

The pic. will not post straight because you are going all straight (I know you use to daily it back then) in a curves car. J/K

Get a Imgur acct. for free and you can post, flip, edit... as you want and one click posting to MR.net.

Looking for more of a brother in a '95 doing it to it!

    Thanks and Peace!

Oh sh*t. Brainfart. Didn't mean to say single throttle body. Don't know why I wrote that.

I get that a lot. Enough so, that I will be doing double duty with the car. Track days on a mild set up, drag race on the wild set up. Its one of the reasons I went with the heavier road race style cage. I am hoping the heavier cage doesn't end up biting me in the ass.

The project for the day is see if my local clutch shop (Tampa Clutch Supply) can rebuild the used 949 twin disk I picked up used locally. They have been our clutch go to source for years when we were in the heavy equipment business. It is a popular place for many of the local hot rodders here in Tampa FL as well, so I thought I would give them a try.

Since the motor is mostly complete, it was time to go back and clean up the chassis a bit. Since the car sat for so long, there were a few rust spots that started to develop in areas where I did the most recent fab work. Mostly the seat mount areas. I also did some sanding a while back and never put back a layer of paint. Those needed to be sanded down and primer applied.

Next I started cleaning up the wiring harness. The wires had an awful coating of dirt and grime that will need to be cleaned off before being taped. In places, its like I am starting over.

I made a big leap in the last few days. The motor is now in the car, which to me is a really big deal. It won't be there for long. I need it in place to mock up everything so when I paint the car, I know everything will go together as planned and as practiced.

A big struggle will be the monster Bob Boig header. To install it, I had to pull the steering shaft out of place to get the last tube in place. The header, including the collector, is in 4 pieces. You slide the three pipe sections in place, and then slide on the collector. It looks cool, but a pain to install.

I installed the twin disc clutch today, and hoping to get the transmission installed soon. The wiring harness is looking a lot better, but now I need to begin the task of running wires to the proper locations. That will probably take a few days to get sorted out.

Had a hell of a time getting the header in. I had to pull the steering shaft out to get the tubes slid in place. Right now I am doing practice runs to see what is the best way to get it in. The transmission was not in, so I know I will have to refine the technique.

I am taking a stab at installing the transmission by myself today. Not sure it's possible considering the header troubles.

Anybody happen to have this front bumper side marker connector?

A little brown dog used one of mine as a chew toy.
