    Keith Tanner's 'Baby'

This car was a big inspiration to me. It's Keith Tanner's 'Baby'. Keith had a nice website featuring this car and also had a 'stripe machine' program which allowed one to try different color stripes on a Miata illustration.
Baby may look a but boring compared to some of the cars in this thread, but for me it was an pivotal car. It was the first Miata I saw that I thought looked cool.

You guys are going to laugh but the miata that inspired me was Hakuna Miata (Circa 2001). When we first got interested in the miata that was the only build thread/pic tutorial I have ever seen on the miata. I liked the guy and the fact that he was school teacher so he could not necessarily afford much for his car in terms of spending money on labor. Instead he had to do it himself and took you step by step. That would probably be the iconic miata that got me interested in working on cars at a young age. At the time I read it he installed a turbo himself and ported his own head. I thought I would never ever be able to do half of what this guy did and I am pretty damn close to it now.

The website recently went down but using the wayback machine you can still read it.

I REALLY like this NB1. Definately one of my favorite miatas for its simplicity and Japanese style. It definately has that late 90s look and feel to it. Anybody know what headlight bezels/covers those are?

    Garage Woolery's Super Chicken: http://garagewoolery.com/the-cars/th...super-chicken/

After I 1st found Rooster I started looking to learn about more unusual miatas and I saw and read about Sharka, Flipper, and discovered that Rooster once was The PhatMiata, then I read about the Blue Potato and then stumbled onto the Garage Woolery site. I thought of the Super Chicken as a kind of cousin to the Rooster or am I crazy?

That is the same car that is Woolery's pit crew today. He has owned that car since it was new. He bought it in 1989.

I was certainly inspired by hakuna. He was all about bang for buck mods, as am I. I must have read his head porting guide 6 dozen times and finally doing it this year.

Yes I know, just shows what a world of difference there can be between the two versions, can't hardly believe they are the same car.

Yeah. I knew him before we moved to CA in '06. When we went over to his home, he was striping it down for restoration. He agonized over the color for the longest time, I remember.
