    HIROSHIMA, Japan [Press Release]

Mazda Motor Corporation will unveil the Mazda MX-5 Miata
25th Anniversary Edition today at the New York International Auto Show.

The special edition model was created to celebrate 25 years since the launch
of Mazda’s iconic roadster, the Mazda MX-5 (known as Mazda Roadster in Japan).
Also today, the automaker will reveal a newly-developed SKYACTIV-Chassis
that will be used in the upcoming next generation MX-5.
This year at the New York Auto Show Mazda is celebrating the 25th anniversary of the MX-5 Miata sports car with a large display of old and new models. The highlights of the ceremony are the debut of a new 25th anniversary special edition of the car, and the unveiling of the next generation all-new Mazda MX-5’s SKYACTIV chassis.

So contrary to the earlier reports, the 2015 MX-5 is not going to be revealed in full at NYIAS. We will only get a glimpse of its chassis, which features a front-midship-engine layout and rear-wheel-drive configuration. The engine is moved further towards the center of the car, and the whole thing weighs 100 kg less than the current model.

As for the Mazda MX-5 25th Anniversary Edition, it comes only in Soul Red Metallic and is based on the 2.0-litre 160ps Roadster Coupe model with power retractable hard top and either a 6-speed manual or automatic transmission.

What sets the special edition model apart includes Brilliant Black-painted roof, A-pillars, and door mirror housings; the off-white leather seat upholstery and door trim, hand-finished dashboard decorative panel in Piano Black and the fitting of Bilstein dampers plus 17-inch Dark Gunmetal alloy wheels.

Pricing and availability of the Mazda MX-5 25th Anniversary Edition are yet to be announced.

So the exterior looks like a club edition or they haven't unveiled the exterior just yet?

Looks great but why would anyone buy this with the ND coming out shortly? And why would Mazda not take this opportunity to showcase the ND??

They are showing the ND Chassis at the New York Autoshow, the rest is still a mystery, however I have heard rumors of it being shown at the 25th Anniversary Meeting in Japan, as well as the MRLS event in California.

You'd better get to the dealership then, they will only have 100 available in the USA!

    Marketing 101

    1. Deplete remaining inventory, remember the 1997 STO anyone?

    2. Build Hype for next model, remember the introduction of first NA ?? They would just give hints of different details here and there.

Why buy this 25AE? I'll rather wait and but the ND instead. Besides, this MSM is in the planning stages for something bigger. But I like the white seats on red interior.

I wasn't alive for that marketing

Fact is, these will sell out quick. Doesn't matter if we like it or not. If you're waiting for the ND then you're not their target, with so few being sold they don't even necessarily need a 'target' to move them.

I just love the color in these studio shots. In other photos i've seen of the 25th anniversary car the color doesn't look quite as special
