    WASABI, My Miata, My Story!

My interest in Mazda's little roadster started back in 1998, when a coworker would drive his red '91 Miata to work on sunny summer days. We drove around Boston a couple of times over the years, and I fell in love with that car. I told him to let me know if he was ever planning on selling it... 6 years later, I get an email from him. He's moving from Boston to North Carolina, and is selling the Miata. He owned it since new, and with 79,0000 miles, and a matching hard top, I bought it for $2500.00.

This was the day I bought it. (I'm on the right, Bill on the Left)

Once I drove the car, I fell in LOVE!!!! It's one thing to be a passenger in a top down roadster, but once you drive a Miata, to be in control, to feel the steering, the handling, the road... that's a whole different story.

I found every excuse to drive my new roadster. Sunsets and night time driving was the best. The summer air, the heightened senses, the pop up lights. It was magical.

I enjoyed driving at night so much, I organized a ride, called the "Midnight Run". It was about 90 miles of choice twisty back roads in southern New Hampshire, starting at 10:00 P.M. and ending around 12:30 A.M. at the beach. We had as many as 16 Miatas on a Midnight Run in 2011.

Then in 2010 I came across a Craig's List ad of a rough 1991 Special Edition, in British Racing Green. She had been sitting in the owner's driveway for 4 years... I had to save her! So 357 miles down to North New Jersey I went, with a U-Haul trailer in tow. Didn't even know if the car would start, but for $1600.00 it was worth a shot. I figured the hardtop and 15" BBS wheels alone were worth going down to buy. That's when I bought WASABI.

I brought her home, and spent the next two years bringing her back, with a little TLC.

    I love this car!

Rocker rust repair, transmission swap, and new paint. I'd like to get her back on the road this summer.

I like the Cherry Bomb photobomb. I've always enjoyed Wasabi, now you have to guide us through the work on da Bomb.

Thanks!!! Yes, I am running stock NB Bilsteins (Sport hard) on both cars. The red one is totally stock, where WASABI got the Ground Control coil overs, (springs = 450 front, 375 rear) and Fat Cat bump stops and new bushings. Also RB sway bars (hollow front, solid rear) with 949 end links. She is currently set at 5" at the bottom pinch weld.
