    Faded seats and carpet

I was wondering if anyone on here has dyed their seats or carpets before and what they used I dyed my black Na seats that had turned blue because of the sun last year and after just 2 months they were back to blue. I had used a spray on dye it worked very well on the carpet but the seats didn't last. any permanent solution ? I don't want to have to keep taking my seats and carpet out of my car to dye them lol.

Good thread. Interested as well. I've done my share of paints and dyes but hearing a success story would be good. One thing I've found with fabric paint is that it leaves the fabric rough and crusty.

Does it leave things crusty? I need to dye my seats.

I love Duplicolor too but thier fabric spray left my vsors and seats hard, rough and crusty. Very nicely black though so it shouldn't matter on visors but you'll have to work the seats until they're soft again. Thankfully, they were junk parts to experiment with.

I've also used it on faded parcel shelf carpet and trunk interior trim panels with great success.

I've also tried Ritz powder dye mix but that didn't work at all on a visor. Next, I want to try spraying, full strength (undilluted) Ritz liquid dye and see if that works.

I've used duplicolor fabric paint on my is300 headliner. It looked great and didn't feel crusty. It did however made it feel alittle less soft. Probably made the tiny thin fibers stick to each other. For Miata seats, it should work nicely since the cloth isn't all... "fibery "/fuzzy if that makes sense at all

Sorry, I got mixed up 'til I looked up the photos. I used Rustoleum for these. Haven't tried Duplicolor fabric paint. Where do you find it?
