    Fuel delivery system

So I wanted to ask if the nb fuel pressure regulator is identical the the Mazda speed located on the fuel pump assembly.I know its a spring activated by pressure but if it's stronger and at a higher spring rate build for higher pressure delivery, I might want to switch over to it.

the NB fuel system consists of a returnless system meaning the fpr is located inside the fuel tank. OEM designed at 60psi, i doubt the mazdaspeed version will run more fuel pressure than the 01-05 cars.

The FPR I looked up for a '00 and '05 Mazdaspeed are the same. I would check to confirm this, but I believe the Mazdaspeed uses larger injectors on a stock fuel system that all the NBs share. The only note I found is that it appears Mazda changed the FPR at some point as the new part number supersedes the old one and is noted as such.

    The info I looked up:

    Manufacturer:Mazda
    Part Number:BP4W-13-280B
    Part:Fuel Injection Pressure Regulator
    Replaces:BP4W-13-280

It is item 24 in this diagram.

So can it be ordered through parts department? I'd love to know if there is a difference in pressure.

Because the part number is the same for a regular '00 NB and an '05 Mazdaspeed NB, the pressure would be the same.

99-00 injectors are 260cc, 01-05, including the Mazdaspeed, are 265cc from what I found online.

higher fuel pressure means fuel will run hotter at the fuel rail since the NB OEM fuel system design is returnless. What is it what you are trying to do?? curious what you have in mind....

I just bought the msm fuel pressure regulator. It's about 115 from my Mazda dealership.

What I am thinking is that the MSM needs quite a bit more fuel than the NA model and so the MSM regulator is going to be better suited for my engine since it is pretty much an MSM with a bigger turbo and injectors.

I'm thinking that the stronger than stock fuel pump causes the fuel pressure to rise slowly as the car is driven. I'm currently using a walbro 190lph. Not the hp

Hmmm...makes me wonder since the FPR is the same across the board on NBs, and the MSM has the same injector size as the '01+, that the injector pulse and duration is the difference, i.e. the ECU.

Kfj I checked and the fuel pressure regulator is different part numbers at mazda. Which leads me to believe that they are different resistance in the spring inside the unit.

Weird. Good news then! The one I looked up was the same, but could have been wrong. I hope it is! Let us know how it works for you!

If I had access to a fuel pressure tester, I could look into this but I don't have one.

All the OP needs to do is add a gauge inline before the fuel rail, and compare the fuel pressure difference between both FPRs

That'll happen. I will double check to see if the part number is different from the msm to the nb2 or if the lady said the msm was different from the nb1. Either way would it hurt to replace it? I do have high miles
