    New owner Down Under

After perusing through some of the forum here, I imagine it's time to introduce myself. I had been looking at buying an MX-5 for some months. I drove a few including NCs and NBs. I couldn't bring myself to spend best part of $20K on an NC. The NBs were cheaper but in not particularly good condition. Finally I found a nice original NA for sale within walking distance of our house here on the NSW north coast. Sold! I've only had it for a couple of weeks and I've only done a few short rides. After a record breaking dry (southern hemisphere) winter, it has been monsooning now for almost two weeks. It's bad enough driving here at the moment with a waterproofed Hummer, much less a soft top convertible.

Anyway, my wife is already calling this car my baby. It seems very original except for the tyres and stereo. I think I will leave it that way and just drive it. Of course, I have already started maintenance with oil, filter, plugs, leads etc. Happy days!

Thank you for the great intro and pictures Oz. We're certainly thrilled to have you join us! That is one nice ride and I'm partial to the coast as well. I've driven some Hummers too but only in a desert far away. Like you, I prefer an open-top go-kart near the beach.

Thanks Admin Sir! (I've actually never driven a Hummer although I have sat in one.) We are hugely spoilt up here on the NSW north coast. There are endless twisty roads near Coffs Harbour, starting 5 minutes drive from our place. In fact, the driving is so good, 11-13 September 2014 is our city's hosting of it's third round of the WRC (World Rally Championship). These guys are unbelievable. Of course, most of their stuff is done on dirt, but there are still many good sealed roads to enjoy in the vicinity. If only it stops raining!!

    Thanks for the welcome.

Thanks to all for the warm welcome. I must say, some forums are definitely not as friendly as this one. As for the wheels, they're 18" with very low profile tyres. I'm definitely looking at swapping for some original wheels if I can find them at the right price as the ride will be better, but in any case it's still a fun car to drive.

Hello mate! How'd I miss this eh, another aussie! I actually picked mine up from North Coast NSW (Forster) from an old retired couple. You sure have some nice roads up there... and no traffic!
