    Trailer towing

Have 97 Miata Stick 112,000 miles I am looking at a #600 pound box trailer type camping trailer. www.runawaycampers.com No problem towing with my other vehicles, but what about the Miata. I am wanting to drive the Miata to Missouri/Arkansas area from SE Washington state and back this spring.

Think of the trailer as a giant sail, when a tractor trailer comes whipping by you at 10-20mph faster, that trailer will be sucked towards it like a giant vacuum, when that happens, the rear of your car will follow and you'll be on your side, or in a ditch faster than you can react.

I'll caution you to not bother, regardless of what towing capacity you may or may not read about.

Some people do it like this................

    Hard Dog Hitches :

    Class 1 Standard 1-1/4" receiver

Class 1 weight rating: 200 lbs tongue weight / 2000 lbs gross trailer weight. (More than a Miata / MX-5 should haul)

Thanks. I'll just throw some stuff in the trunk and forget the trailer.

    A wise decision.
