Consider SpeedHut gauges--you can can any gauge you want, and you can supply any design you want. I replaced all of mine, including tach, speedo, etc., with them. One neat thing about the speedo is that you set it based on tire diameter, so no more incorrect speeds when you change tire sizes. Also, you st max/min on the fuel gauge, so it reads accurately, something that bothered me with the OEM stuff. A functional OPG and water temp gauge are a big improvement over stock as well.

I definitely agree that a better oil pressure gauge(although op has a na6 so has a functional oil pressure gauge) and water temp gauge to be more important than the gauges i previously listed but i was going off of ease of installation being most important to op. Although there are several adapter kits to tap in at different places for the water temp but really not many options, that I'm aware of, for getting a accurate oil pressure reading other than directly off a oil passage in the block. I always forget about Speed Hut but they are kind of pricey right?

I paid $1200, shipped to Japan, for nine gauges (two large, seven small), with two sets of faces, one set in black, one in white.

I have the Zoom Engineering centre console tunnel and tombstone in my silver car while the Nakamae vintage carpet tunnel with Nakamae tombstone in my black car. Horses for courses really as I like both options. If you want the Zoom tombstone then do the Zoom centre console tunnel as IMO that works better and as Zoom intended. I like the vintage carpet console but to pull it off you need the right other parts as can look a little odd in cars where rest is quite stock.

Have been planning on the armrest delete and new door cards.. thanks for confirming this will be a requirement when I finally bite the bullet on the Type R's!

What Color Seats are you getting? I am guessing black since you have a Mariner Blue Miata? I think the Zoom Console with RS Center all in that stainless or brushed aluminum would look great and would add some color to the black interior, it would really make the seats stand out more (in a good way) IMHO.

Will be going with black Type R's. I've been hoping that with some of the other bits already installed (RS products HVAC plate, trim rings, needle caps and AC knobs + Rev's hazard/light switch and gauge faces behind my KG works panel) that I could pull off the Nakamae vintage carpet console once I add a proper steering wheel (and replacement JDM seatbelts which I'm only aware of thanks to Randy!) and blank door cards with pulls. I don't need the storage and like the minimalist look of the Nakamae carpet but now that I'm learning more about what I could get out of gauges, the Zoom set-up has become a real contender. Maybe I just need to follow James' route and have a fleet of 'MX5's' so I can try out all the options

Really appreciate all the feedback, insights and help! But damn, it's hard to make decisions sometimes with so many amazing options out there...

Or just modify a standard tombstone.

I finally decided on the Nakamae center console because I love the minimalist look and link back to the M2 and knew I wanted my elbow to be as low as possible with the Type R's. I just installed all the Nakamae bits this weekend which was really straight forward and incredibly gratifying. The only issue I'm having is getting the carpet to stay flat along the center just behind the shifter ring. No matter how many times I've tried to secure the Velcro on either side, there's still a gap between the carpet and the FRP. Has anyone else had this problem and have any ideas? Not keen on gluing the carpet to the FRP but at a loss for how to secure it.

Seemingly impossible to capture in a photo but have tried...

If you get the Nakamae Slim Door Panels without the armrest you can move your seat all the way forward without rubbing the seat.

Thanks Randy - I did get the door panels (I think it was you originally telling me I needed to or the seats wouldn't have full forward movement ). What I'm talking about is the carpet on the top of the center console itself. The seat aren't hitting the carpet on the sides but I can't get the carpet to sit flush along the flat bit adjacent to the handbrake and directly behind the shift ring. The sides are velcro-ed tight to the transmission tunnel but the carpet isn't affixed to the FRP underneath so is causing it to lift up.

Work the carpet part a little bit to soften it?

Thanks for all the suggestions. Ironically I did think about the iron for longer than I should have . It's not that the carpet is too firm and I don't want to try other options.. Simply that *knowing* it isn't fitting tight to the FRP is the simple fact that bugs m'OCD since that's not the way it's built or how others have ended up with their installs.. I don't notice it at all when I'm driving but the fact I know it isn't right up against the transmission tunnel (with the FRP piece) that I want to correct. If I adhere the carpet to the FRP with fabric glue it will lie flat. From there the Velcro points will be fixed, hopefully. To me, ironic it is tight on the tunnel but there a gap on the piece that you rest you arm on...
