I would bet a damaged tie rod or control arm. Possibly a damaged alignment bolt(s) attaching the lower arm to the subframe. There is a lot more force in that hit than you think. I would also check the hub for play, you may have damaged the bearings.

The burning rubber, I would check all the coolant hoses, which may be contacting a moving part or the exhaust manifold. Other possibility is the tire contacting the crumpled fender.

balance issues only causes wobble/vibration, it won't cause pulling to one side or another.

you may have an allignment issue now, or if it is there rear which is pulling to one side, it might be an issue with the diff.

I thought it could be something else for a split second however, this only started happening after I had my brief excursion

it's possible the excursion bashed a weight off your wheel but that is *very* unlikely and still wouldn't cause the car to pull to one side or another. go get your allignment checked

    (btw I know you're a UK'er.. get yourself on mighty5s )

Tire pressure can also cause a pull. Has the car been aligned since the impact? I'd suspect the alignment may be out of whack if the tire pressures are correct.

It's gonna get done, it's not terribly out, I can't get one of the valve caps off either
