2012 Mazda Miata MX-5 Convertible Test Drive & Car Review from Autobytel

Lots of praise here, as if we expected otherwise, LOL (See Below)

    From Autobytel

The Mazda MX-5 is the one true sports car that has lasted the test of time. The recipe for success was written long ago: convertible top, sportscar design, engine up front, and rear wheel drive. The 2012 Mazda Miata MX-5 carries on the torch. Sure there are cars like the BMW Z4 or the Porsche Boxster but those cost twice as much!

The 2012 Mazda MX-5 Miata starts at $23,470 with the top of the line Grand Touring costing $30,050. What's cool about the MX-5 is that you can get this hot little roadster with a convertible that is either a soft top or a hard top. The 2012 Mazda MX-5 is powered by a 2.0 liter 4-cylinder engine that makes 158 horsepower and 140 lb-ft. of torque. You may be thinking that the Miata MX-5 is underpowered, but the engine has more than enough grunt to move the ultra light vehicle weight of 2645 lbs.

Really the 2012 Mazda MX-5 is the closest you can get to real track performance at this price. And even though the MX-5 was tuned for the track, the convertible rides very well on regular roads. The engine is responsive and the steering is quick. Take one for a test drive and you will be hooked.

Never actually noticed before that the plate between the boot (trunk) and the roof is very much like that on the NA, complete with the chrome hardtop plates at either end.
