Ah that's a shame. Hope you get the car sorted and sold OK and you enjoy your Rex.

I was hoping that this would return to life, as it would be one of the finest NA builds in our part of the world...Oh well, the replacement sounds good enough to get you excited! Keep us updated!
Sorry to hear, Peter, looking forward to seeing the rx7.

Thanks buddies. To be honest I would have never thought of selling this particular Miata, I thought I had my keeper. But things changed, and the replacement is one of my childhood dream cars.

Hi! Remember me? Maybe you dont, but I missed you guys.
A lot have happened in my almost 2 years absence.
The seller of the RX7 backed off last minute, but I had already sold some of the cool stuff of my Miata, and I was really, really frustrated. Plus, having my Miata going from shop to shop where people were just mocking me and didnt actually work on the car, made me take a looooong pause. I couldt stomach watching anything car related, even more anyhting Miata related.
So I opened a small coffee shop with the RX7 funds, in early 20.
I had a lot invested in this small shop, as it was my first adult financial venture, without the influence of my parents.
And then, COVID happened. I was forced to close it or sell it, as my running expenses were higher than what a new shop that hadnt been established well in the area yet was generating, and I was preparing to get married. Luckily I was able to sell it to a friend that was interested, albeit at a huge loss, obviously, in mid summer of 20.
Then in September I got married.
I also got a professional drivers license, needed to drive this:
My father in law has a small road assistance company, and hired me. Its almost as if it was meant to be. (Here moving a friends NA)
After all these, as I started to cooldown from these 18 months going past in what seemed like a blink of an eye, I turned my focus to my poor NA sitting neglected.
I found a guy at the other end of the city via a friend, who just opened his shop, and is very passionate about it. Sure enough, in a matter of hours he pinpointed the culprit: a dead AFM was preventing the engine from getting spark AND fuel. Hadnt even crossed my mind. He also cleaned up the car, made a basic fluid and filter change and made a list with everything wrong with the car. Being a neglected 92 model, with 150K miles, you can guess there were quite a few issues. That was this February.
Also found a good deal on OEM 94-97 wheels that I absolutely love, and I am going for a subtle OEM+ look on the exterior for now.
I gathered all my aftermarket and interior bits missing and gave them to him, so it is going to be a complete car, once again, very soon.

Congrats. One day you'll get it back. Getting married, living by the Med. It's the place you're meant to be. Cars, well, you'll get them back :-)

Hey, Marty! I think you did, thanks! Hope to see you back in a Miata too.
Hey! Thanks! Yeah, thats the plan, slow and steady wins the race they say.
Hi, Chad. Thanks! Great to see you still working on your Miata too. Hopefully by the end of May it will be back on the road. And I hope to get it painted by the end of summer

Small update.
It seems like the AFM was not the only thing wrong with the cars electrical. It wasnt idling properly, and once any throttle was applied, it would immediately die. Looked around for an answer, and saw that the ECU i had installed since my original one had been fried, had been tampered with by someone previously, and it was not reading anything air related. Comparing it to another ECU, we noticed a couple capacitors were missing, which was weird.
We then installed another ECU, and it worked... for a couple minutes. Then it would again die when throttle was applied. We opened it up once again, and this one was also fried. In the same exact spot as the original one. Long story short, the idle control valve was also short circuiting and frying the ECU. Suuuuuuuuper weird. Promptly replaced it, had the ECU professionally repaired, and...
(Here I was supposed to show a video of me starting the car and driving, but cant figure it out, so take my word for it)
It drives! Frist time it moved around under its own power in 3(?) years.
Heres a photo of the outside. Once its all put back together and working, Ill have it painted, but I cant wait to drive and enjoy it as is, at last.
And a photo of the engine bay with some new goodies installed.
