    The font is really really huge. Look at it compared to my mouse pointer! It's nearly the same height.

    EDIT: It looks much worse than what the screenshot looks like.

    Except then it goes ridiculously small and also affects the text font in threads which was unchanged by the format reconfiguration.

    Okay, I'm not seeing anything grossly out-of-place in these screenshots. Perhaps if you pointed out exactly which parts of it you don't like?

    With the exception of Yellow's obvious formatting issue on the iPad that I'm going to look into, all the rest of the screen shots look pretty normal to me. On a screen width of 800px, the fonts are going to look large. On a screen width closer to 1200px, they'll look just slightly large. On a screen width more than 1300px, they start looking pretty darned good in my opinion!

    For everyone who was happy before viewing the site at a fairly low resolution, understand that a lot of things were VERY small for the ever-growing part of the population who is viewing at much higher resolutions. Currently, about the lowest resolution laptop or monitor you can buy is about a 1366x768, and I expect that 90% of all users (other than mobile) will be viewing at or above that resolution within the next 12 months. So, any design changes that are made now should be with that in mind.

    Let me break this down for you.

    Good:

    Good:

    Bad:

    This is on a monitor with 1680 x 1050 resolution. It's downright offensive on the eyes.

    There are 18 threads in the first pic, 15 in both the second and third pic.

    Is the text too bold or the icons to the left too large?

    The font for the text is way too excessively big. It is also disproportional to the font within threads.

    The number of threads shown differ because of the header sizing. Here's a side-by-side-by-side comparison to show the font size difference.

    No problem. The auto-resize wasn't helping with people trying to post their screenshots so a cropped full-size image definitely helps. I think if the sizing was brought down a couple sizes, it would be fine. It wouldn't hurt to use smaller icons too.

    The icons are the same size they've always been. They are the default vBulletin 4 icons. Not gonna make them smaller.

    And the display you're using as an example isn't the one that I was focused on when I made the recent changes. (though I will the next time I get in there) I was tuning the main forum display because the font in the new subforum layout was just too small. The main forum index needs to be easy to navigate, that's what drove these changes. Unfortunately, most of the fonts are sized by a few standard variables, like "giant, large, medium, small, tiny"... and really, only "large, medium and small" are the commonly used ones. Getting "small" to a size that is legible, and scaling "medium and large" accordingly is pretty much how things ended up where they are.

    All of your input will be taken into consideration as we finish fine-tuning the font sizes. But, we still can't please everyone. And our forum doesn't have to look exactly like every other forum!

    Excuse me for not reading the entire thread in advance.

    I'm running a 1280px wide screen. The font size in general on this website just got way bigger in a lot of places for me too, and I personally feel that it greatly negatively affects the legibility of this website. It's a lot harder for me to browse the main forums page now because there are just giant blocks of text. It almost makes me not want to browse the forums sometimes because it can be so bothersome, and I don't feel like I should have to down size the font in my browser just for this website.

    1: Get rid of the "Top 12 Stats" on the home page. It's not really useful (unless the majority of users agree).

    2: Put this in the "additional.css" file:

    .forumbit_post .foruminfo .forumdata .forumtitle, .forumbit_nopost .forumbit_nopost .forumrow .forumtitle { font-size: 14px; }
    .forumbit_nopost .forumbit_nopost .forumrow .forumdata, .forumbit_post .forumrow .forumdata { font-size: 13px; }
    .forumbit_post .forumrow .forumlastpost { font-size: 13px; }
    .forumbit_post .forumstats li, .forumbit_post .forumstats_2 li { font-size: 13px; }
    .wgo_block { font-size: 13px; }
    .navlinks { font-size: 14px; }
    .navtabs li a.navtab { font:bold 110% Arial, Gadget, sans-serif; }
    .threadbit .threadtitle { font-size: 14px; }
    .threadbit .threadmeta { font-size: 12px; }
    .above_threadlist .threadpagenav .threadpagestats { font-size: 12px }
    .breadcrumb .navbit { font-size: 13px; }
    .forum_info { font-size: 13px; }
    .footer { font:normal 13px Tahoma, Calibri, Verdana, Geneva, sans-serif; }

    3: If you keep the "Top 12 Stats", also paste this into the "additional.css" file:

    .blockrow a { color: ; font-size: 13px; }

    I kind of like the stats up there. At first I disliked it a lot, but now I like it because if I'm working on something and want to just check back quickly if a thread has been updated it's right at the top, no need to go to the New Posts view, you can just check it at a quick glance. That's just my opinion though.
