Mexico Report #1: Constructing the New Factory


Mazda is currently building a new factory in the city of Salamanca in Guanajuato, Mexico. This facility will be vital for Mazda’s business in the Americas. We plan to bring you regular updates on the progress of the construction and share stories from on the ground in Mexico. We look forward to sharing this process with you.

In our first post in this new series, we’d like to show you how the land has changed since the beginning of construction. The construction site is vast and bulldozers are running around busily preparing the land surface. See the difference a month has made. In the near future an entrance gate will be constructed in the foreground. Work is progressing smoothly thanks to the sincere efforts of our staff in Mexico.

【Mexico Report #4: Safety First】


Mazda is currently building a new factory in the city of Salamanca in Guanajuato, Mexico. We are bringing you regular local reports from the construction site.
At Mazda, we take safety very seriously. For our Mexico team, we printed "safety first" on their helmets in three languages: English, Japanese and Spanish. Take a look at the person on the far right who’s added the brim of a sombrero to create a distinctly Mexican-style helmet.
Furthermore, our pursuit of safety isn’t confined to the realm of the tangible. We’ve also set up a small shrine called a kamidana (common in Japanese homes) in the office. Here, we pray for the safety of the team and offerings of tequila replace the traditional Japanese sake.
