Hopefully my last post catching up on '16 but after more than six weeks, Benny *should* be back on the road this week!

In 2015, there was the first JCCS spinoff event "Neo Classics" to cover newer cars from the 80's and 90's. That was the first time that I met some of the KINOD crew in person which started my weekly trips to the City of Industry. So on Oct 23rd, I joined fwdtamiya in showing our cars and decided to bring both the Mariner and the Sunburst. Mrs. R is still ribbing me that her 100% stock NA got third place in the best Mazda showing and highest honors for a Miata (lots of stunning FC and FD on show). Had a chance to see the Toyota museum for the first time and then the KINOD attendees came back to the house for a BBQ that night. Best my driveway has ever looked I think...

I want that Toyota jacket so badly but being an extra-large makes finding Japanese clothes a bit difficult. All of that Toyota content makes me happy.

This year I only asked Santa for one thing.. to please make sure Benny wasn’t written off. While I was awaiting the verdict I spent two weeks searching for NA’s and validated that finding a replacement would not be easy. Thankfully, after sorting out the insurance hassles this is how he spent the Christmas break at Integrated Performance.

Since they were already painting the rear it saved me some money to get the GV rear painted at the same time. An awesome friend I met on MR.net even sent me a spare set of aluminum backers he had made for the lights!

I was super happy with how everything had come together when I finally went to pick him up. Over a month without my roadster sucked..

Since I’m expecting it’s going to be a long hunt to find the Zoom rear spoiler I’m coveting, I hit up Joe at RSpeed for a KG Works rear spoiler to got into paint at the same time. Had my youngest helper validate how fantastic a Trap front lip would look on Benny but between both Scrat and Pitcrewb losing theirs combined with LA’s horrible roads expect I’ll play safe with a Type R version which I want to mate to a Barchetta front.

So got it installed but held off on the rivets as I’m still undecided about how well the Work spoiler, um, works with the GV’s.

Benny looks better than ever, Pete! Really glad you got it sorted and they didn't total it, that would have been very sad.

Thanks gentlemen! They say absence makes the heart grow fonder and on that, I wish that you are never without your roadsters! Hopefully just one more update tomorrow and then time to focus on the driving for a wee bit!

Back in October I picked up a set of 14x7 +12 SSR Mk2’s from Bo’s Garage and ordered some SSR lug nuts/ center caps. Direzza’s followed not long afterwards..

They had a fair bit of curb rash and generally looked a bit tired so while Benny was laid up, sent them off for a complete refurb.. in gold. Then to mounting and balancing...

Until my first attempted install didn’t realize I’d need spacers to clear the break so ordered 4x 5mm. Here’s the test fit…

Super happy with how they turned out.

Ahead of the maiden voyage, swapped the Momo back to the Nardi and installed RevLimiter’s horn button. Damn it feels so good to be back behind the wheel…

It might sound weird, but there's something between the black flares and the SSRs that does not work for me. I think it is the colour of the flares; would much prefer them in body colour I think.
