A while back I dug up some info on AUX input options. Tape adapter, FM modulator, all garbage. Eventually found a diagram by Jeff Anderson which takes advantage of the 13-pin CD plug in the back of the Type 1 radio. Posted a DIY thread here. I wired this up with a cheap toggle switch a few months ago, and it worked but some contacts weren't being made in the switch itself, so I decided it was time to step up the quality a little.

I also tried my hand at wiring window switches. First attempt was trash, second attempt was better, third attempt was satisfactory.

Of course these toggles need to be mounted somewhere. I was initially going to mount them onto a tombstone end-cap, but scratched those plans - stay tuned.

I love my cubby, but that was the only remaining option. Made some templates and cut out an aluminum and ABS panel. Aluminum panel will bolt onto the tombstone, and the 1/4" ABS sheet will sit on top to come close to flush with the tombstone.

Both plates are rough cutouts. I've drawn both in AutoCAD and will have a second set cut on a waterjet later this week.

    Test fit:

The tombstone wasn't left without attention either. Speaking of M2-1028...

Received a couple of packages last week. The first one is from MiataQuest. Jet Stream turn signal intake bulbs/lenses and two OEM oil filters - for the price of shipping. Blown away, MiataQuest is the man.

The second was a long-overdue shifter rebuild kit, the only thing keeping me from installing the carpet console.

A friend and I attended MATG this past weekend and had an absolute blast. I had no idea what I've been missing out on, so plans for next year have begun. Great views, great roads, great cars. I got to meet a ton of cool people, including Bryan, Jamie, and Maxime from Rev9, who is one his 3-month USA trip at the moment.

Maxime's new ND looks sooo good. That ducktail...

Jamie's NA was unreal to see in-person. I hadn't seen 90% of the parts he has on his roadster in person before, so that was something. The Nakamae seats are stunning, and I totally got to plant my ass in them.

I've finally been able to finish up my console project. Love it. Also picked up some Revlimiter door straps and KG Works locks at MATG.

I gotta say, the way you've built Moby, is just straight up clean, simple, and incredibly tasteful. You're a man after my own heart.

Definitely have made a fine example of what quality parts, attention to detail and simplicity can accomplish! Love the interior!! The switches and guards are perfecto!

    Very nice!

Do you plan to swap in a black dash pad? I think that would flow better with the black door uppers.

Haha, Jamie and I had this exact conversation earlier. Paint the crash pad or paint the door card tops? Personally, I absolutely love the all-tan interior that came in NA6 cars. I painted my faded tan crash pad when restoring the dash, and I plan on painting the door card tops to match. I compared tan vs black crash pads, and I find the tan to flow better with the interior overall - that black line just seems...out of place in a tan interior.
