JIS Screwdrivers (revlimiter.net/store/jis-bits.php)

http://revlimiter.net/store/jis/drivers-hero.jpg

Don't know what a JIS screwdriver is? Go here and read. (http://revlimiter.net/blog/2014/09/the-japanese-phillips-jis-screwdrivers/) Pay no attention to the robot pix.

Cliff notes:

Designed to grip a screw instead of camming out when force is applied.
Made by Vessel, the company that helped create the JIS standard
Multiple custom sets available - you can only find them at revlimiter.net
Not just for Miatas. They work perfectly on ANY Japanese car or motorcycle.

http://revlimiter.net/store/jis/jis04.jpg
Really, this photo tells the whole story. Standard Phillips on the left, JIS on the right. This is a huge difference.

Buy from my store. (revlimiter.net/store/jis-screwdrivers.php)

http://revlimiter.net/store/jis/repair1.jpg
Set 1: The Miata Repair Kit. It's a five piece set with the essentials. You'll have a hard time finding a cross point screw that this set won't work on.

http://revlimiter.net/store/jis/bucky1.jpg
Set 2: Bucky's Toolkit. It takes the Miata kit and upgrades it with three slot head drivers to make an eight piece set. Why? Because it's a bummer to go back to the $2 Harbor Freight drivers for that random slot head screw after getting used to the awesome Megadora handles.

http://revlimiter.net/store/jis/sharka1.jpg
Set 3: Sharka's Toolkit. This is Bucky's kit with an added Impacta P.2 driver and a ratcheting handle with four drivers. That's a fourteen piece kit.

http://revlimiter.net/store/jis/drivers2.jpg
There may or may not be toy photos on my store illustrating the tool features.

Go get them! I love these drivers. I'm excited to sell them again.

Dew eet! You'll thank me someday. I can't believe I've worked on JDM cars for nearly 20 years without these.

I love the Megadora set too!!!!

It's SO awesome. I wanna be a Vessel dealer just because of this.

I love you. Buying a set right now.

My buddy is a dealer for MAC Tools and sells Vessel on the side, they are the best!! I got my first set back in 2000 when I found them in Japan at Super AutoBacs, they are legit tools for sure!!

side note, do you have the bits that remove the TINY screws on the gauge faces? Those are very easy to strip!! I have hand tools not the bits, so I might have to buy these now, LOL

revlimiter
09-06-2014, 08:14 PM
The #0 is perfect for the gauge screws. I've been using them for a week. SO much better than Phillips.

However... the JIS bits are sold out. Looks like I should consider keeping these in stock.

Thanks for making this a success everyone! I'll update this thread when I have more and they're a regular item.

JIS Screwdriver Bits are BACK! (revlimiter.net/store/jis-bits.php)

http://revlimiter.net/store/jis/jis-10.jpg

The group buy was a success, so these are now a standard product. And, as a bonus, I can offer them for a bit less than the group buy price since I was able to get a better bulk rate.

Even better, I now have additional sizes of driver bits. I have a bag with "large" P.1 and P.2 bits as well as a P.3 bit.

Thanks for making this a success everyone!

The "large" bits and the option to have both sizes of bit are sold out. There's a handful of the regular size (#0, 1, and 2) left.

I ordered another batch last night. I hope to have them back in stock in a week. I truly didn't expect these to go so quickly. I had 5x the stock as last batch.

Hopefully I'm not stepping on any toes but thought it might be useful/interesting info. Tamiya, the Japanese R/C and model company sells JIS profile screwdrivers as their kits use JIS screws (along with most other Japanese made R/C companies). These should be available at better hobby shops that carry Tamiya products. Unfortunately you'll usually only find 2 sizes, I believe the two smallest, because those are the sizes their kits use. Quality is good but nothing special. Pricing however is pretty good.

That being said, I'd be interested in the set of Vessel full drivers.

revlimiter
09-27-2014, 08:41 PM
^ you can also get a full set of drivers from amazon for about $30ish. P0 thru P3. They're Hozan branded. I own a set. The handles are hard plastic and really suck to hold. They've been relegated to trunk toolbox duty. But if you don't have a real JIS driver, they're better than nothing. They WORK a lot better than a Phillips and if you wear gloves, they're not too bad.

The Vessel drivers are FANTASTIC. They're actually nice enough to get excited about while holding them. The dual rubber/plastic handles, the knurled grip, the magnetic tips, and the fact that they BITE the screw. They're phenomenal. I own... a lot of them now. Well worth the money.

I mentioned on m.net that this next one will be my last JIS driver bit group buy. It's just too much work to accept and track 50+ orders for these and then box them all up that night. It's beyond the scope of my little one-man operation. Hopefully, another shop will take on the challenge. Been talking about it behind the scenes already.

Drivers are back in stock! And they came with a few new friends.

JIS Miata Repair Set - $56 + shipping, one set per customer

I'm addicted to my Megadora drivers and had to buy some to put in my store. I put together this set of the most common sizes that Miatas use. I only have ten sets, so I'm limiting it to one set per customer. I'm using my custom order form to sell the driver sets, so you'll have to actually talk to me to get one. Hopefully, the experience isn't too horrible.

I've also got the JIS driver bits back in stock. I was even able to lower the price a tiny bit more on them. :)

Go to the store and claim your driver sets. (http://revlimiter.net/store/jis-bits.php)

revlimiter
10-10-2014, 05:09 PM
I'll be getting more BITS due to a shipping mix up, but I'm not sure about the driver sets. If there was interest in them, I might do one more order.

This was supposed to be my last JIS order.

revlimiter
10-13-2014, 10:40 AM
A few of the bit sets left.

Was there interest in more of the Megadora drivers? I could get another shipment if there was.

Update: My shipment of Megadora JIS drivers should go out on Tuesday. They should then arrive at my shop around Friday or Saturday.

Unfortunately, there won't be more JIS driver bits. There's a problem at the factory in Japan and they're delayed past Thanksgiving. So I had my order of bits converted into a couple more sets of the Vessel drivers.

This will be my last shipment of the Vessel JIS screwdrivers. My Vessel rep has been totally awesome with me and they've sold very well, but they're just not the best fit for my store. Hopefully another vendor will start selling these.

revlimiter
10-28-2014, 09:26 PM

Would there be any interest in the Vessel JIS screwdriver sets I sold last year? I use mine every time I open the toolbox. I love them. I thought it would be worth asking about.

I know Moss is selling these now, but they don't do the same set I used to offer.

I got more screwdrivers! All packages are back in stock. I ordered double the amount last time. It was actually hard to lift the huge shipping box. heh

I also have a new driver package - the JIS Starter Kit

http://revlimiter.net/store/jis/starter1.jpg

http://revlimiter.net/store/jis/starter2.jpg

These use a recycled elastomer resin for the handle instead of the dual density handle on the Megadora. Aside from losing the knurled section, everything else is the same. The different handle makes these quite a bit less expensive.

I was really surprised when I opened a set. The handle doesn't feel like a budget item. It feels better than the "nice" Craftsman drivers with the black/red handle. The green isn't smooth or hard. It's quite grippy. A set is going in each of my car's trunks.
