Heat soaked Intake

I want to reduce the heat soak on my intake. I haven't checked the temperature of my stock crossover, but I don't think I can grab and hold my JR intake after cruising awhile. Running 1.6, JR intake, driver side headlight air duct, Koyo 37mm, oem header with oem heat shield, factory air guide in the bumper, missing the oem under tray though.

So, I've been considering the $33 roll of this to cover the JR intake and oem crossover.

Is there a better solution than that material? I'm also considering an ARC crossover (which I would cover in gold too), does anyone know how that would affect heat soak? Is aluminum more prone to heat soak than plastic? Does it cool off faster after turning off the car? Any other ideas to reduce intake temps or under hood temps in general? Phenolic intake gasket?

ARC intake gets hot as fuck while you're stuck in traffic, you can really feel the heat soak. (I did when I had it)
I think the gold foil tape is the minimum that's needed to help combat heat soak. Making a little heat shield around the intake could help too.

I did but I don't want a vented hood, for aesthetic reasons. Thanks for bringing that point up!

I never did any temp testing, but on the 1.6, the JR CAI cast elbow + thermostat spacer are the key pieces to making custom intake configurations. If you ever plan to run a standalone ECU, the threaded bosses on the elbow are PERFECT for mounting the air intake temp sensor for the Megasquirt. Using those JR pieces, And a few others, I made shorty, long tube, even used it with an ARC crossover to locate the filter behind the driver's side TSI.

I have seen that gold foil used on intakes on other Miatas for racing purposes.

I plan on using a JR intake on my car just cause it has a little hole that's perfect for the AIT sensor.

The key to cold air is to get it from outside of the engine bay, one way or another.

Is this the engine that has a coolant line running to the throttle body? I seem to remember that affecting idle if you remove the throttle body from the situation and loop it though?

I know it's not the same car, but the DEI gold tape really helped reduce the temps on my buddy's NC. His filter wasn't sitting in an over like ours typically is.
