I have a car which is using a toyota (corolla?) A86 rear end, which is a live axle with the driveshaft located all the way on the right side.

I am looking for an independent rear end to replace the above.

I am told that the miata has an independent rear end/diff that I may able to utilize. Perhaps the miata 1.8?

the existing axle/R. End is 49.5" flange to flange. I have a couple of inches +- to play with. I'd also need to have the pumpkin to be with 10" long. If there are any options, would greatly appreciate any help. thanks.

The Miata differential uses the rear subframe and a center spine to locate the differential . I have heard of people use an s13 rear, but have never seen it in person.

Look into a Jag XJ6/XJS if you putting any power down…..XKE are narrower version too, but these can be narrowed.

I am putting full XJS under a 1941 Chevrolet, and got the whole Jag for $200.

Thank you for the info.. The S13 seemed to be one to consider.. now have to find one locally to play with., Do you by any chance know if the pumpkin may be within 10"?

The Jag seems like a good option, however, we were looking for an option with availability. around ne ohio hard to find that many jags, miata plenty.. thanks.

RX7 Turbo-II is another rear end swap to consider.
