I saw this posted in the SoCal and NorCal forums. I think we've got the best roads in the country. Here's a couple - post yours!

US 421 "The Snake" - Mountain City, TN to South Holston Lake. 14 miles.
US 221 - Blowing Rock, NC to Linville, NC. 18 miles.
Shull's Mill Road - Boone, NC to Blowing Rock, NC. 7 miles.

The Diamond Back Loop (http://tailofthedragon.com/Diamondback/) - 38 miles near Marion, NC. Includes 226A "The Diamondback" and NC 80 "The Devil's Whip." Bring your ballz if you're going to run it hard.

Pine Mountain Highway 190, west Georgia in Pine Mountain and Warm Springs. At the top of the ridge is a country store that makes a damn good hamburger.

How long does it go? I might have to check that out.

Old Ford Road - Fairburn, GA - ~1.5 miles. Not much on miles but it's pretty good

"The Loop" 6.6 miles. Our private test track about 5 miles from my house. This video shows the upper part of the road in winter (and the cars in winter trim/tires) after a storm had washed dirt onto the road.

Only times leaving the lane were when I had to, to avoid dirt and dogs... the same dirt that caused the moment for the Z

Highway 218 from mint hill to about wadesboro, most of it is 55 with plenty of turns and good "country" views. It has little State Trooper activity and a shortcut to the coastal area from US-74's traffic lights

Bat Cave Rd - NC9 Old Fort NC to Black Mountain NC (http://maps.google.com/maps?saddr=Old+Fort,+NC+28762&daddr=35.53092,-82.21458+to:E+State+St&hl=en&sll=35.591715,-82.309914&sspn=0.151597,0.338173&geocode=FdGnHwIdwgUa-ylDkaRuHFVXiDHQmRln4GsSew%3BFagoHgIdTIEZ-yk_MNUX1VdXiDHsphCge-y1YQ%3BFap_HwIdPuYX-w&oq=Wades&gl=us&mra=dpe&mrsp=1&sz=12&via=1&t=h&z=12)
Bat Cave road is made up of great twisties, and Hwy 9 is very driftable. You have to watch for the SHP on Hwy 9, though.

It is a nice stretch, I went for a drive a couple of weekends back and found myself seeking that road. On the way there I took the Sardis Church rd that turns into Unionville/Indian trail road that leads to 601. That small stretch is fun cause of the elevation changes but I seem to always get behind someone going abit slower that I'd prefer. Have to watch out for cops of course.

I plan to take a weekend and do the whole Blue ridge drive or atleast the NC part. I came across lots of nice driving roads on my first trip to The Breaks Interstate Park thats on the border of Kent/Va.

ONE of my Favorites, Georgia's own Dragon. Start in Dahlonega, GA and head north out of Dahlonega on Route 60. Stay on 60N (it merges with GA 19) as it splits off to the left towards Suches, GA. Follow it (If you can) up to Suches, GA and hang a right on Route 180 (Wolfpen Gap Road). Stay on that till it dead ends in to US Highway 129/19. At that point take a right on to US 129/19 and follow it south back down into Dahlonega. 42 miles of pure pleasure!

NC 215, from 64 to BRP. gorgeous road, just do not run it in the rain with bad tires, unless you like jumping a rain gulley, and planting the car into the mountainside. Ask me how I know.

Georges Gap/Rush Branch. Better to run George's Gap E-W because it's hard to brake into the switchbacks downhill. Google Map (http://goo.gl/maps/rE9hT) 12 Miles

Modified to make it worth your while. Added in NC-88 and Old 421. Now 45 miles of fun. Google Map (http://goo.gl/maps/mBWXF)

Check out Ridley Road off HWY 29 in Palmetto as well. It's a short pass but nice curves.

Highway 17/76 as you pass Helen, GA. Awesome tight turns and some hairpins.

I went down 60S for a while and it was a really good road but saw a house with a KKK flag so I turned around and went back where I came from LOL.

This really makes me want to go to the mountains, in the mean time I will just have to settle for the route of back country roads out here I drive when i just feel like driving. Even in the peidmont of nc there are some decent driving roads if you get off the main roads.

Figured this thread could use a bump. I'm going camping over in Bryson City, NC to go white water rafting which is very close to Highway 28 that leads to the Tail of the Dragon. So, I definitely plan on taking that when I get some free time during the day.
