Nothing too special, just gear oil.
I currently have Royal Purple Synchromax in my transmission, and I'm not digging it. Shifts a slightly notchy, and could be a bit smoother. I've heard good things about the Red Line MT-90. Even though it's meant for more aggressive driving, I feel it will still give me an improvement over the terrible Synchromax.

A post to show it's not all wine and roses collecting cool parts. I received this dash and some door cards from England today. Just about everything is broken. The quest for red continues...

Have you thought about trying to use SEM interior dyes? I've been thinking about that myself if I ever decided to go for the 93LE red as it may be a far more cost effective way to get the look since black and tan pieces are far easier to come by in great shape.

Ugh, and I'd like to post in this thread, but nearly every time I get goodies for my Miata I'm too giddy to get them on the car before I take any pictures of them. Even if I have to do extra work to get them into shape before installing. I so should have taken pictures of the wood handbrake I recently got as I refinished it.

Have you thought about trying to use SEM interior dyes?

No I hadn't. I thought dye was only for leather. If SEM dye worked on vinyl surely it would be paint, and just called dye. My seats are black cloth, there'll be no dyeing them.

I had thought about painting interior parts though. I'd use:

On hard plastics like the glove box door, I'd plastic prime and paint in colour matched 2K
On vinyl like the door cards, I'd use colour matched DuPont vinyl paint. This can be mixed by a paint supplier with a DuPont automotive tinting system. I've got a MOMO wheel I painted pastel blue by this method many years ago and its held up perfectly. Feels like vinyl though.

Keeping on thread, I got these bits today. Shin-Etsu grease to lube the door window channels. Evidently it's the best.
And Mazda Tribute washer jets. These produce a spray mist pattern instead of the two jets of water that come from conventional jets.

Also what is that yellow car inside the garage with the number 59 on it?? Pictures of it please.

The front is used and there is a few cracks around where it was moulded in. Should be an easy fix though. Here is my front in the YJ advert.

http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3779/11870154995_643c0563cf.jpg

I dont plan on fitting these parts on anytime soon though. Id like to complete my red 93LE/S-Limited interior first.

The black top has a ten inch long crack in it and the left gauge cluster mount is broken off. The red lower plastic is okay, maybe i could cut the top off a black dash and graft two together where the color breaks.

Car 59 is a 1976 Triumph Dolomite Sprint. No photos today

Love the carpet console fwdtamiya. Particularly the shift boot which looks like an original and a perfect match for the standard momo. That momo came as original fitment on my car and I've never considered them a big deal. But I should imagine if I lived in the US with those four spoke airbag wheels as stock, that momo is the dope!

Realistically it's something you could make, but I think the price I paid balances out with the headaches of making it myself. Someone posted a template of the carpet itself either here or on CR. So all you'd need to do is source the right size ring for the shifter. The one on mine looks custom cut as it isn't perfect, so I might source a new one to have it a little more precise. All in all, I'm very happy with it currently.

How does it attach? I don't understand. What is the point?

JamieH
04-09-2014, 11:40 PM
Attaches by plastic channels hooking around the soft top frame bows, velcro wrapping around the folding arms of the convertible frame at the sides, and I've got the front held in place by the rubber trim on the front bow. As for purpose, cleans up the looks of the interior by covering the exposed bottom side of the soft top. Adds a layer of insulation which helps to keep heat & A/C in and reduce wind noise. The top can still fold down with one in place.

But if all of your top's bows aren't fully exposed, like the rear bow on my top, you may not be able to use a soft top headliner. I was able to get away with it thanks to my rollbar.

I got my carbon ducktail bootlid back. I made it for a guy in the UK a while back but some moisture got into the lacquer and it went all milky, so I had it back and kept it. Got it resprayed BRG to match the rest of the car so it looks subtle, but left the underside carbon so I can show it off if I want!

I say subtle ... I got it painted by Painter Dave off one of the UK forums ... The problem I now have is the finish is so flawless it doesn't match the rest of my car which hasn't been cleaned or polished in the 5 years I've had it!!

Can't wait to see it finished. I am getting my spoiler (one of your designs) painted up and ready to mount. This one will also sport a nice coat of British Racing Green.

My transmission on my 96 started to go bad, I took my 96 to a shop to have the transmission replaced with a used one that has 117k. It will cost me about a $1000 out the door. I should have it back by Tuesday. Then I still have to buy a soft top, damn I spend too much money on this car.

I wish, I have the place but no lift & transmission jack to drop the tranny. And I'm not doing it by myself. It's just bad timing for me since I have a lot of homework due on Monday. I just have to bite the bullet on this. At least the replacement transmission should be reliable to take boost in the future.

Raceland luggage rack!

Hey, nice rack.
Stainless steel on Black. Sure looks good.
When I install mine I use these strips of vinyl under the rubber pads. 25"x 2"http://i1058.photobucket.com/albums/t414/phk656/09251d712c1b75b26d45df8457e2f903_zpsb26914bc.jpg

I get them from the guys who install 'invisible bras.' I ask if they have any scrap pieces. One guy even slits them for me. I give him a 12pk of 'Newcastle'. Wipe off the deck lid, load it up with wax and place the strips down. Plus you can leave it on for as long as you want with no damage!

I am finally the proud owner of a Harddog M2 Sport! It's killing me not to take the wrapping off and bask in its naked glory, but I feel like I should keep it clothed until it's installed so I don't scratch it up in the installation process.

Side note: I realized upon receiving the large box, that I paid $95 to have it shipped from 2 hours away :fp: Had I paid attention before I bought it I'm sure I could have just went and picked it up instead of paying the extra mullah.

Got tired of the wind noise I get on the highway, so I'm trying my hand on cutting down on it a bit. I'm using some flex seal to try and bulk up the weather strip on the top of the windshield so that it makes more solid contact with my top. I'm thinking about trying the same with my window weatherstripping, if this works.

I did do the latches and it was still pretty bad. The flex seal seemed to do the trick and turned down the volume a bit, but I had to peel it off just above the latches because it flattened from the latch being closed. I'm going to try a couple other things and I'll keep you guys updated.
