Swapped my tail light, refitted my KG Works spoiler, refitted part of my front lip, and gave it a quick jet wash to get rid of a lot of mud. A mate decided that the tyre wall looked appealing while drifting it on NYE. *facepalm*

well, yesterday i installed a Flyin' Miata front sway bar with 949 end links, but then also cross threaded one of the bolts that secures the bracket to the frame (d'oh!). i thought it was going in straight, then felt resistant and thought it was just dirt that was getting grinded between the threads, but i guess not... but then my rear sway bar went in easy! now for a test drive. and lets see how messed up my front sway bar is

I discovered a leak in my softop that soaked the driver's seat and door panel last night in the rain. So, I pulled it in the building and used a wet-vac to dry it up some. Then I checked a few things under the hood. That is all.

I took this picture just before opening the door to find the water.

Had ALL THE COOLANT HOSES replaced, plus swapped in the radiator of an Auto NA. That was ALL THE COOLANT HOSES. Why I'm I capitalizing? Because Skip Cannon and I spent 10 FREAKING hours getting those hoses out. They were vulcanized and to get them out took every trick known to Skip. Oil cooler removed? yeap. CAS and coilpack removed? Yeap. Intake cross tube, and only GOD knows what else? Yeap, removed too...

On the plus side, Skip found a couple of minor leaks along the crosstube intake, so I picked up a bit more power, and that it is always nice...

Well I happen to know a little bit about guns and ammo, and I certainly know enough to know that is safe. If you've removed the bullet from the casing, which it shows you have in the picture, and you've emptied out all the gunpowder, which you say you did, then that is completely safe. The only thing that could "go off" on that is the primer, and it would sound like and basically have the effects of a snap cap. No bodily injury, or even engine damage would result, that's for sure.

Coming from someone who's been reloading his own ammo in his apartment for the last 3 years without a single mishap.

If you both read my post I said that's clearly not an issue. I've had rifle primer's go off with the shell casing in my hand before while reloading (the same condition his shell casing is in) without even burning my hair. Cap guns are children's toys!

Yesterday I greased one of the sliders (sorry if that's not the correct term) on the driver's side rear caliper because it started making noise again. I "borrowed" this pic from ebay and circled the slider that I greased. The boot on mine doesn't seem to fit quite as nicely as the one pictured, so I assume water is washing the grease away. This is the second time I've greased this part, the first time was about a year ago.

Can/should I replace the boot? Use marine grease?

I learn that finding out the the tires pressure to be low, while hitting the twisties is BAD for your reaction times. No Problemo, the tires are WORN and new tires are getting installed in 2-3 weeks!

Today I got a SWEET alignment. I tested the car on CO 74, which is just about 5 miles of where I live. On the posted 25 MPH zone, I was holding the line @ 70+ :D

Here is link to the road, btw there is roughly one thousand feet of elevation on this road: https://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&q=morrison+co&ie=UTF-8&hq=&hnear=0x876b7817bd454fc3:0xef00554d2d581268,Morris on,+CO&gl=us&ei=ZBc4UdunCY2AygGSwICQBg&ved=0CJkBELYD

But life is neither perfect, nor fair. Two of the BBS center caps were not properly adjusted when I had the tires installed. I lost one, thankfully I was able to save the other loose one. Ebay, here we go! :(

New Koni STR.t's wrapped in Megan lowering springs topped with NB tophats. The Nardi wheel is refinished and hand-brushed. I got the retro mirror that isn't supposed to fit a post '95 NA in. The radio delete is done (XM in the glove box and amp under the HVAC panel with an additional port for a GPS/Ipod/whatever). New windshield just in today. Center console deleted. While you can't see it, the levers to open the trunk/gas lid are activated by rip chords. Toggle switches for the hazard, light retractor, and windows. Custom Revlimiter gauges and HVAC panel. Harley Davidson mirrors. I love this car.

LOL, just a retro touch above the HVAC; ribbed for her pleasure. ;) I will probably keep something very similar looking in its place, but I expect at some point I'll have an articulating door and a cubby behind it (or re-re-locate my XM stereo behind it).

I'm way interested in your HVAC knobs. I really like that look and it would work well with upcoming mods to my interior. Let me know where you get with them.

The car is not as stiff as it was but at previous height I was not complain about stiffness either. The OEM suspension felt like every little bump was a pothole. Yes. I already have the turbo and a few of the other parts but won't install til I get back from going away for work this summer. Figured I'd do the reroute now while the engine is out so I don't have to deal with trying to install parts on the back of the engine.

Started working on repairing my driver's side mirror. It snapped off in my hand a couple weeks ago when adjusting it. The bolt and washers inside were totally rusted through and flopping around in a hundred little chunks inside the mirror housing. The stock spring looks like ass, but still usable. I bought a new spring however which is longer and a little weaker, but I think it'll work once I put some tension on it. Everything is stainless except for the spring. I even had to modify one of the washer to fit down in the recess in the housing.

Anyway, here's some pics...

I am not sure if glass can be refinished back to a smooth surface, so I called Joe at Rspeed. He has some spare lenses that I should be able to purchase soon.

Also, the construction quality on these things is phenomenal! The way it all fits together is awesome. All the plates are aluminum, and I was able to break it down completely. Damn good stuff

Tops been down for a few days straight now. It rained the other night with the rear window down (zipper split). Lucky it was only a sprinkle!

Picked up BNIB Suspension Techniques lowering springs last night, installing on my buddies lift tomorrow.

Went to hang out. @ Skip Cannon's place. The Miata got a new (louder) horn, did a couple of tricks to increase radiator airflow, and found out that my oil leak is not from the oil cooler, but from the rear seal. Two out of three ain't bad.

I have been looking at horns myself, previous owner removed it and I have been too lazy to replace it. Thinking of putting a loud`n on it.

Did a test run and made a couple of these the other day at a friend's house. Now that I've got a handle on working with aluminum again (it's been a few years), the "real" ones that I make for my car will be a bit more substantial and a lot more symmetrical, will have recessed screw holes and recessed rear center hole which means I won't have to drill an extra hole in my doors.

The unfinished side vs the finished side...

Those mirrors are sweet!

Saturday I installed those ST Springs...dropped the car 3/4in in the rear and 1/2in in the front. I dont want it slammed, but I wanted a little lower.
It does ride and handle a lot better though! I guess my stock springs were just worn and super saggy/soft.

Also plasti dipped my rear trim because my buddy burnt it very bad trying to buff the residue from the miata badge off. :?

I like it.

I got sick of planning on a turbo and did something crazy. In passing I asked one of my co workers when the next time half inch plate was going on the laser and asked if I could get a couple flanges thrown on. Well. He asked for cad files and I willingly sent them to him. Today he showed up at my office with them. Totally wasn't expecting them for a few weeks.

Got home. Got excited.

The manifold to mid pipe studs snapped. Guess that's the point of no return. I ain't even mad.

And yes, the cad file got messed up being added to the cut file. I need to grind out the corners to complete the oval ports. They were free, so I don't mind the $8 carbide bit and little extra work.

Finished installing wheel bearings yesterday and test drove it last night. Its like driving a different car. So much quieter and it seems like I am driving at a lower rpm. Maybe the bad bearings were causing me to have to push motor a little harder to get car moving. It was wort the 160.00 to switch out the 20 year old bearings for sure. Next up is swapping out the 20 year old motor .that task will be done in September.
