I am just starting to wade into this, so feedback would be extremely appreciated!

I am looking to buy a video camera for the car I can mount inside to critique myself at the track. The equipment needs to be easy to use, good support, easy to d/l and edit, and have good accessories. I am looking at the GoPro stuff, but I don't want to spend a crapload on tech that becomes obsolete in months.

I am generally do 15-30 minute sessions, 5-6/event. I would like to mount it to my roll bar. I am considering using TrackAddict for telemetry to superimpose over the video.

Ideally, I hope to have the hardware together for under $300.

What do you use? If you have videos to show as a sample (this is NOT to be a 'cool video' posting thread), opinions, pros/cons, etc. I would love to hear them!

This is a good idea, once I get the roll bar in I want to look at camera options as well

I am consider a GoPro3 white. It leaves me ~$100 for a mount and extra cards/batteries, though I may see if I can wire in a direct power source to plug into the camera from the car's harness.

You could mount your Android phone running Torque and Track Recorder for free:

You could pick up a cheap Android tablet or used phone perhaps. Lots of Samsung Galaxy phones on the market with great cameras when people upgrade.

Good point. I should look to see if I still have my old HTC EVO.

I don't have a harness bar on my rollbar, but I was given one of these http://www.mossmiata.com/Shop/ViewProducts.aspx?PlateIndexID=77434 and have it installed in case I decided to run a camera. I think the smaller diameter bar would work well with most "bar mounts".

Add this http://goo.gl/d2mhb8 so when you get to your wi-fi it will upload the movies auto-magically.

Pretty neat. I had one for my Nikon point-n-shoot.

Or you could just become friends with someone that works at Best Buy and get a GoPro for a nice discount!

A friend of mine suggested I look at Craig's List. He bought some good equipment there for his drones at good prices. Indeed, there are some good values there, but I need to familiarize myself with the equipment before doing this. If I stick with the GoPro stuff, I am trying to figure out what I need to accomplish what I want.
