155hp in a ~2,300lb car (with the 2.0L) will be plenty for your average driver. I have a feeling a quick tune can net more ponies if the owner really feels the need. That or Mazdaspeed will lay their graceful hands on it and wow us. The latter coming around the same the MS3/6 are rumored to reach market.

just have to wait on the next turbo kit, or V8Roadsters kit :slayer:

Not everyone wants to modify, to extract performance to beat a 4 Cyl Camry/Accord out of a traffic light. :/

Why are you driving a miata in traffic?

Let's see... it weighs the same as an NA6 but has 40% more power.

I'll take that.

Something as nimble as my NA6, a fully functional AC system, an up to date radio, and 40+ mpg make for a very inciting prospect.
~At least as far as I'm concerned.

The temptation is strong already, I don't need your help

My N/A BP already makes more than that. FRS keeps looking better

I can see this as a direct contender with the BRZ/FRS. It will be interesting to see how well the two compare especially in autocross. I really like how the motor is placed behind the front struts like the S2000. I'm looking forward to a test drive. Only questionable thing is the how the rear cuts off so abruptly like the original Z4, but I think that's a cool and different touch. Considering how light this car is compared to the other models and the moderate horsepower/torque, I think it will be more than enough to maintain that fun factor and push the car a little harder than your supposed to.

I don't think the traditional Miata buyer is a high HP buyer or else they would be buying a Mustang.

I'm pretty sure I heard that the Mazda engineers were trying to get back to what the original miata was. If they got rid of the bloat / weight, 155 N/A sounds great to me! There's definitely a need for a lightweight, rwd vert in the market that's nimble, not a pony car that makes tons of power but feels like its rolling with concrete in the tires.

It's getting nothing but excellent reviews; I have yet to see one in person but I wouldn't mind taking one for a spin. I'd like to know what Mazda's sales target is for this model.

I somewhat agree.. I've had my na for close to six years now and have no real desire to do any engine mods.

That would be freedom of choice. Something that even Honda apparently understands, but not Mazda. We all have different likes and choices. Personally, I'd paid extra for an ND with enough performance to make me open up my wallet. The ND on it's current format does not do makes me want to open up my wallet.
