I am about to mount my 22 yo LE NA6 dash and I realize how I may be able to reinforce the the back of the plastic and lessen the cracking problem of these NA dashes. The one that came out of my 95 broke in 3 places. I am thinking of laying a layer of fiberglass behind it. Is this a good idea or has someone did this already? Or would it just promote further vulnerability to cracking? Any suggestions?

I recall seeing a welded corner brace that helps with vibration. I'll have to see if I can find that photo again.

Also rev limiter has a nice write up on his page. Check his page first !!

Thanks. I did check that page. No reinforcement was done just crack repair and then he covered it with leather. I'm thinking more of prevention. Maybe laying some fiber will strengthen the plastic?

I loosen the screws to relieve the pressure….I've repaired quite a few.

I used plastiweld to reattach all of the broken mounts and reinforce the remainder. No data on if this accomplished anything. My dash is very modified and I was willing to take a chance with it. It has been more than a year since with no cracks, but only about 1000 miles.
