99-05 6-Speed Transmission Front input seal cover gasket?

So I was told that the 6 bolt cover (5 bolts for 5-speed) that goes over the front input seal does not use any specific gasket like the prior 90-97 5-speed does but rather just any liquid gasket? What liquid gasket are you guys using? Does this cover stops the transmission oil from leaking or does it just covers the input seal and protects it. Did the factory really place a liquid gasket on this cover? Thanks

It wouldn't surprise me. The front gasket for the 5 speed is a really thin fibrous/paper gasket. As for liquid gaskets, that's what the factory uses on the oil pans. Except for the 'saddles' on the front and rear, the oil pan gasket is just grey RTV.
