This is less of a review and more a list of notes I made while installing the TDR tensioner system on a RHD Japanese delivered car with PS and AC.

Firstly their instructions are still correct however things need to be moved in a slightly different way in regards to the PS line. The pump itself has a different fitting on top. It works in much the same way you just turn it to loosen the line and then you get a full range of moment from the connecting pipe. I found that just by turning the line a small amount as instructed could not get the clearance I needed. It just would not clear the diagonal support on the tenshioner or it would rub on the PS line that leads to the PS fluid tank.

But all is not lost. Luckily the guys at Mazda put a far longer hose on the PS pump then needed. So by turning the PS pumps fitting almost 180 degrees I found the clearance I needed. The only "mod" was to clip a zip tie Mazda had used to stop the line moving too close to the engine. I then used a new zip tie when I was finished just to get that little extra clearance. It actually had about 2mm of space but I felt that it would be a good idea to secure it again.

I say 180 degrees but maybe 140 is more like it. really once its pulled around it moves quite freely. All I will warn you about is that if you just turn it 90 degrees the line will rub the chassis. A side note is that it actually frees up some space to run the hose from the Idle control valve under the cross over pipe rather then over it so long was it wont interfere with the fans. Sadly my hose was just a little too short but its something I will be doing down the line.

you can see why I used the zip tie in this photo it can only move a small amount but it would be a bit risky to leave it loose.

Another note and I guess this could go for LHD and RHD models is how fitting the plate itself was a case of putting in the bolts and then turning each one a few times till each bolt was seated correctly. I dont know if it was just me but I had a few instances of moving the pump up and down to get the holes to line up.

Now the product itself. Well I've not ran the car yet (not the products fault) but I really like it. Very solid construction and once fitted the belt side of things was a sinch. Also stickers, I'm a sucker for free stickers so thats a plus.

I'll also give a shout out to the guys at TDR for being so quick to get it shipped and responding almost instantly and that's amazing given how its an 8 hours+ time zone difference.

That looks more like the A/C getting close to the PS lines?

I did have to bunch it up with the other lines but none move and the PS line is quite flexible.
