So I just bought a sooper cheap Dino steering wheel on eBay and want to mount it. It has a Nardi bolt pattern. I don't need a quick release, I'm okay with doing some modifications to the hub (but not the car), and don't want the thing to snap off in my hands. I don't want to buy a HKB/eBay special, I've heard too much of them cracking in my searches. I don't want to buy a Daikei, that would be nice, but would cost more than 4X what I paid for the wheel. Works Bell is kind of similar.

One member said he used a SA22 first gen RX7 hub to mount a Nardi. (http://mazdaroadster.net/showthread.php?616-The-steering-wheel-thread&p=5955&viewfull=1#post5955)

There are a few used JDM airbagless Nardi adapters on eBay. I've read these might not work but have no idea why. Example.

Or should I just "pony up" for an NRG? Anyone found any other good options?

Best quality wise are MOMO, Daikei, Nardi, Works Bell. And actually in Japan Mazda used Works Bell and MOMO as OEM parts. You can check the for sale section of the forum and find them used for $50 ~ $100.

The JDM version will work fine, you just need an airbag defeat from GarageStar (about $12) so that your airbag light does not blink constantly. Some of Japanese versions might be a half inch shorter so if you want the same length as a USA car then you can just buy a hub extender (about $25).

I don't have any personal experience with NRG or others you have mentioned.
