ok so I got this idea from a guy I follow on instagram. awesome guy answered a few things I was curious about. then I jumped in and started adjusting and trimming. so I started with this
13597
a little bit of a difference
13598
anyway you have to trim the head light bucket and ill get pictures of the cut bucket later.
but once you do this you wont be able to go back to stock head lights with out new buckets. also the head lights will be in a fixed position.
13599
don't just start cutting!! it took me about an hour to make sure I had the right lines to cut and if this shows interest ill get more pictures

13602
I trimmed the plastic to clean up the look.

I wired my lights to the low beam wire. you will need to cut the plug for the head lights off then peel back the wire cover. the black is ground , the red/black is low beam the other is high beam. the high beam wire is thicker then the rest, my lights had a black ground and a red positive so wired the black to black and red to the red/black and all done. if anyone wants more pictures or info or anything just let me know. someone helped me and id be glad to help anyone in return. I know the look isn't for everyone but I like it and in total it was only about $70 thanks for looking

When you take pictures, I'd be interested in seeing what the light output is like against a wall 20-30 ft away from the car, if you have a place you can do that anyway.

I'd worry that it'd be blinding to oncoming traffic since there is no cutoff

I saw a white NA Miata drive past me on the opposite side of the road with this mod yesterday.

It was pretty bright, and it was daylight out. I would imagine its crazy bright at night.

So it looks as if the lights no longer "pop-up", am I correct? I like this idea otherwise. Having a massive f-350 running a light bar behind me is absolutely obnoxious. I do believe it would help the safety in my small car if I had something like this.

Thats correct. They will no longer flip up and down.

Is there not a way to fix them so you can flip up & down? Also did I miss the pix showing light out put? Thx

I'm gonna put this mod up there with hid conversion kits. It's extremely annoying when cars have lights that are too bright. You are using what is essentially a flood or spot off road light for head lights.

Like I said its a love hate kinda thing. Im not interested in spending $300 plus on a low profile kit. I couldn't stand how stock lights look.

I havent posted a light out put picture yet. But I will. I also think you could modify the linkage and motor to work with the lights but it would take trial and error

I bought a Rigid LED Light Bar (http://4wheelonline.com/Rigid_Industries_LED_Lights.169847) from 4wheelonline. Ideally it was for my utv, but I thought of installing it on my Miata. The out come was almost the same with the pic. Out put beam was really impressive, but the disadvantage would be the flip on and off would be disabled.
