I've been looking into cleaning up some of the wiring in the engine bay. Not really trying to do a wire tuck, I just want to get rid of stuff that isn't necessary and tidy it all up. The washer bottle and charcoal canister have been removed as well as the flimsy stock prop rod replaced by RSpeed hood prop rods. I have been going through threads for the wire tucks on the interwebz; some of that seems too involved for what I am trying to do.

So hopefully one of you can give me a quick, easy answer to my question. Is this box on the inside of the left front fender necessary? What is it used for? It is right near the clutch fluid reservoir and intake piping. I have removed the black cover for the picture.

My car is a 1990 with a Nardi wheel in, so no more airbag. I'm trying to get rid of the airbag wiring and sensors in the engine bay. That being said, it looks like an orange and blue air bag plug with blue airbag wiring goes into the underside of this box.

Is this box essential to vehicle operation? Is it only for airbag operation?

Thanks everyone.
