Last night coming home I hit a rock/piece of concrete in the road, and put a small bend in the lip of my cr-01!!!

I'm pretty sure that it's fixable, and I have a second set of wheels to run until I manage to get things rectified. I'm considering having the lips anodized or painted rather than the current polished aluminum finish, has anyone had this sort of thing done?

My Rays were revived from the dead by Rimguardxtreme.com. Took them a little over 2 weeks, but they worked magic.

They have a shop down here in Wilmington. Good to know they do good work.

yeah, I mailed them out to Wilmington. 1 wheel had to go to Texas, due to the amount of damage repair needed, but they did them up well.

Can't see where you are located, but there is a guy out near the coast in NC that does some killer multi piece wheel work.

Nice. My brother has 2 sets on BBS RS that will need barrel work. He hoards Cheap RS (if there is such a thing) but has been stuck with where to send them for retrofitting.

On a side note, would any of you care to share on average how much it cost to recondition wheels. I know this varies by wheel condition but is it possible to share an average per wheel. I will need to recondition mine. No curb damage but there is minor bubbling in some spots of the chrome, i will need to repaint the centers, do some clear coating and polish them after years of abuse.

No idea. The best value and work I have had done was in Santa Ana, CA. There are some amazeballs shops in LA for wheel work.

I had a set of SSR Comp C with diamond cut lips and anthracite metallic centers. Sort of a rare 15x7.5 sizing. I had all four trued, painted, the lips machined and clear coated for $500. I thought that was a steal and they looked better than new.

So much depends on where you live and whether you're paying retail or not. Figure $125-$150 per wheel to start. Some people up charge for aftermarket wheels vs OEM. Add more $$$ for any severe damage repair, custom work (anodizing, extensive polishing, chrome, etc.), multi-piece wheels, special paint finishes (shadow chrome or chromalusion), it goes on and on. It could easily cost $2500 to refurbish a set of BBS RS with new barrels, exotic hardware, etc.

For pretty badly bent locally I usually pay $60, double that for straighten and re-finish...

As KungFu said...it can get pricey...

Yes. My brother kind of knows that he will pay dearly for the RS refurbishing. But I think its worth it for a special wheel that is out of production and timeless.

My Work Equips 03 2 piece are in relative good shape. I hope all it needs its a good polishing, gold paint in the centers and clear coat. But all of this information helps. Thanks guys!

I think Glenn's Custom wheels in Tampa charges $150 per wheel for refinishing last time I checked. I'll ask next time I see their guys. They come to my office to pick up sealant for the 3 piece wheels

My set repair was 850 including shipping. But 2 wheels needed large fill ins, all were blasted, rash repaired, machine finished, trued, and powder coated. Good thing I got the set for almost nothing.

Demon, the work on your wheels is fantastic according to the pics. Phat, I will likely go to Glenn at some point as his work looks pretty good, just looking at what kind of budget ballpark Im gonna be in. Thanks everyone.

I just dropped the wheel off at AWRS (alloy wheel repair specialists) about 4 miles away in Baltimore. They come highly recommended from my cars and coffee buddies, and are a sponsor of the largest c+c in the area. $159 48hr turnaround. Includes dismounting and remounting the tire, polishing out the rash from the impact, and straightening the bend. I'll have it back later this week and I'll post some before and after pics.

On a side note, now I want them to powdercoat my rollbar

Funny story time.... I had just won a trophy for best wheels at a benefit car show the same day that I bent my wheel!

Back in 95 I worked at Tire America. A lady who owned a Audi with 17 inch wheels came in two times in the same week with a bent wheel.
