So I was trying to install this Beatrush. But the OEM oblong shaped 14mm washer nuts won't clear with a socket when installing the rear strut bar feet. Actually it will one side at a time but once it starts threading there is not enough clearance for the second nut.

Any ideas?

I can use standard nuts however I know Mazda used these odd shaped ones to prevent them from backing off the bolt threads. Don't really want to cut the mounting feet of the strut tower bar either. I don't recall having this issue on my 96 Miata and did this in 10 minutes with hand tools last time.

Is it possible to put longer studs in the tophats?

You could maybe try the standard nuts with a tiny bit of temp thread locker?

yeah I think I will have to, Im gonna call up my buddy that is a mac tools dealer to see if he has some super slim fit 14mm sockets first, the OCD in me wants to use the OEM washer nuts if possible though.

Is there a big difference in how the car handle with it added?

I ended up using some nice Stainless steel flange nuts in place of the OEM crimped nuts from the factory. The stainless flanged nuts are smaller and worked perfect, the rear end feels a tad tighter now but have not taken the car to an autoX yet to test it out.

Some pictures would make this thread perfect. ;)
