Will they fit together? My car is a 1996 NA with the cruise control removed and non abs.

I already have a Master cylinder brace from Flyin miata but they are selling a RB intake locally for cheap.

Is there an intake that will fit with the Flyin Miata MC Brace?

And I know that the intake will probably do nothing for performance but I just like the sound.

Thanks.

You try asking Flyin Miata?

At 10pm? I'll try tomorrow because I saw the intake for sale just now. Just wanted to know if anyone here knew, nothing wrong with that. And I searched also. I already know the flogging people get when they don't search. I do know that the Randall intake won't work.

I don't know if the RB or even the DDmworks intake/heat shield will fit.

I don't want to go to a K&N typhoon style intake that points the filter at the exhaust manifold.

No nothing wrong with asking but you'd be surprised how many times such a obvious solution gets overlooked. No ill intent intended.... :ninja:

I see that you bought a MC brace. But did you get the RB intake? Sorry for asking but I'm on my phone, I can't see that video too well.

On the video I have no intake mountet. I will mount the oem intake.
And I have not mounted the MC brace yet, actually I'm searching for it as it went missing.
I have RB headers though. :)

Racing Beat made 3 different intakes;

- Basic K&N style
- Cold Air Intake
- Elbow Intake

which version are you talking about?

The silver elbow with a K&N at the end. I'm going to call flyin miata now to ask.

I called and Keith said that he was 'Unsure' weather it would fit because they never sold the intake.

Garagestar makes an MC brace that will work with the latest RB intake. You might be able to make the FM MC brace work if you grind it down with a dremel, that's if you even need to.

I'm fairly certain i have seen mc braces used with a rb elbow intake but i won't swear to it.

I think I'll pass. The intake needs a new filter anyways. Thanks for the help.

I've seen it duplicated with fairly inexpensive piping from eBay if you want a more cost effective path. Thats what i will probably do since my induction path is unclear and i personally think the RB elbow intake is overpriced, imo.

Like hell will I be getting that intake new. They want 100 bucks for it used. But I think I'll just get a K&N panel filter and leave it at that. I'm not a fan of rigging anything together, especially of stuff off ebay. Just because I suck at custom fabrication so I wouldn't be able to make it that well. I'm a cookie cutter kind of guy.

Well when or if i do said setup i will provide links for an easy cookie cutter replication guide. :ninja: Probably several floating around anyways....

Edit: one google search later:

had this in the back of my mind for a bit.. finally just bought everything and threw it together. just putting it out there.. about $80 for everything

youll need this:

and one of these;

youll also need to by a 3" pvc hanger thing in the plumbing section of your local hardware store.. its called a "dwv hanger". looks like this:
http://www.hardwarestore.com/galvanized-pipe-hanger-649060.aspx

they ussually have a twist in them. put it in a bench vise and straighten it out. youll also have to put a bend in it and i bolted a small bracket to it to make it sturdier (see pics)

where its secured near the filter.. i just put a small bracket there and ziptied it areound the intake. its ghetto but its sturdy enough.

the pics! (sorry.. cell phone only.. im lazy)

my filter wont be here for a couple days.. im sure this one will fit. a bigger one might, but this one will be fine.

also working on a box to isolate the filter..

id expect the same gains as with an rb intake.. if not more since the tube before the MAF is longer with my design.. but im only half certain that matters. i do know that it revs faster at idle (i slapped a filter i had laying around on and tested it out in my garage).. anyways have fun!

k its all done.. i taped the tube with some reflective tape and built a little aluminum box box around the filter. i used the "cardboard box with straws" method from one of the diy airbox threads on here. i also put some insulating foam tape on the box. i may still work on sealing it better in the back but im happy for now.

one cool thing about how ive got it set up. the filter isnt resting on the body.. its just floating but its secured.

That does look pretty nifty but the plans with my car may involve Forced induction OR ITB's in the future. So I don't really want to spend the time (or money, at least for a new RB intake) on this particular thing. So I may just get a new K&N Panel filter.

Well fyi, even a k&n panel filter is as much as the cone filter in the above diy setup so you are into the diy setup by almost half the cost just for the panel filter, i think i got mine off eBay for around $35 shipped.

I bought an RB intake years back and didn't get chance to install it since I had a JR MP45 kit. But now I'm all stock, so I might as well pick it up at the storage and install it.
