Hello again everyone. I'm back with a new question. My front Hubs are badly worn and need to be replaced. I found a new pair of Hubs for only $40.00 at http://www.am-autoparts.com/. Problem is that they did not come with new Hub Lock Nuts. I have been digging around looking for some new nuts but it seems as if the hub nuts came in two sizes for my 97 Miata. My shop manual does not say what size I should get. And the local Parts stores don't have the tools for measuring the threads. I would also like to avoid pulling off the old nuts without having the new ones to replace them with. Seeing as how they are not supposed to be reused and I don't have the room to store my car in the garage on blocks till the new nuts arrive. Does anyone know what size Wheel Hub Lock Nuts I need or know where I can get that information?

Looks like they are 29mm.

Thank You Slip Stream. But My issue lies in the thread size and not the hex size.

Oops missed the bit about thread size. Well a google search brought me to this.

Says thread size is 1.50.

Hope that's what you mean/looking for.

yah that's one of the two sizes I keep getting. The one at the link you posted is M20- 1.5 and the other is M18- 1.5. I don't know if I should get the M20 or the M18.

For what its worth i was told by a reputable miata parts dealer that replacing it every time isn't necessary UNLESS it is damaged, like where you put the indentation is already broke thru. I have pulled my front hubs off twice in the past 10 months and not replaced but this last time the front passenger side nut where you put the indentation got a little too much umph so will probably replace next time.

Thank you Grease. But they are damaged and should be replaced. If I ever do figure this out I will be glad to let you know so you don't have the same problem.

Don't know if you were wanting to source locally but Rosenthal Mazda is a great online source, here is the hub nut:

Edit: When i buy new "oem" parts it has always been from them and they have a great reputation . Get email confirming quickly and they ship fast. :drinkto:

I'll try that one. if it works I'll post it here and let yall know. At least if it does not fit it doesn't cost $30.00 - $50.00 like on some other sights. Thanks everyone for the help.

I got the nuts that GreaseMonkey sent the link to. They are on and working just fine. I couldn't get them to punch down. so I got them on at 160lbft. The highest level according to the shop manual.

Good to hear! I put on a brand new Moog hub today on my front passenger side but still some noise so i think the past two, improperly repacked/rebuilt apparently, hubs have jacked up the spindle. :cry2: Im just glad the new found noise wasn't my bilstein like i thought at first. :fp:

I got my hubs from http://www.am-autoparts.com/ They cost $40.00 for the pair. they just didn't come with the lock nuts. So all in all the job cost about $60.00 counting the nuts you sent me the link to.

Sorry to hear about your spindles though.... I have no miracle link for cheap spindles. Wish I did though. Good luck with that. Give me a few days and may be I can find something for you. Do you have ABS or not? I need to know for the search.

Non abs but Tom with the Parts Group is giving me a great deal on the spindle but if i do a spindle then i might as well do inner tie rods, outter tie rods, lower ball, upper ball joint and all those is where it adds up. :fp:
