Finally got myself another miata. it is a 94 with 115k miles. came with harddog rollbar, hardtop, and racing beat front sway bar. The car is in amazing condition, for the year and the mileage, this is the best looking one i have ever seen. picked it up last night and took pictures today.

Here is my previous miata, a 97. i bought it 100% stock and added some visual mods. then i let my cousin dirve it and he blew the engine. I was comming to California sinc ei was in the military, so i just sold it to him so he can build it and such, but i kept the 97 engine to build for myself. muhahahaha. but here was my 97.

http://i319.photobucket.com/albums/mm459/CxMoney/94%20Miata/2011-09-030848453.jpg

Loved that car to death. but since it was a 97, it was hard to do any engine modifications due to emissions. i always wanted a 90-95 so it is just a "taste" test. but never got around to it.

Well now i have finally got one. a very clean 94. i just about feel bad for planning to modify it its so clean. here are the pictures.

Now for this miata, i have decided that i want to make it a retro themed. Bride histrix or corbeau classics, nakamae interior, work wheels, autokonexion ducktail trunk, GV front lip with hopefully a splitter with turnbuckles from TDR, 90-93 Dash, 97 style door panels(the ones with the arm rests.), GV tails, Boss Frog Double Hoop Roll Bar. ect, ect, ect.

only thing i still have yet to decide is if i want to turbo or go with ITBs. i still have the engine from my 97 which will be the donor engine i am going to be building.

but yeah, this is my new miata, and her name is Pandora. :)

No idea. for some reason the instant i was thinking a name for the car, pandora came to mind. so i decided, Pandora it is. =)

Dont feel bad about modifying a clean car, just do it tastefully. Classic styling is a good way to go.

i seen your other one on cl for awhile, i wish i couldve got those seats.

Cxmoney
01-24-2012, 11:59 PM
yeah i have really gotten into the classic styling lately. i dont know why, i just really like it and think it looks badass. ive got almost everything planned out, alot of nakamae, probably some corbeau classics until i can afford the bride histrix, misc exterior styling, and some nice wheels. probabaly either the Work Meister CR-01 or even 6uls for wheels. just under hood, i just cant decide to either go turbo or ITBs. i am more leaning over to ITBs for the classic badass look and style, but i have no idea how to install or anything. So i might just end up with Flyin miatas FMII kit with the hydra. ill make a choice one day. haha.

and uni, i picked up the seats from Batlground.com. i think i paid $470 shipped with the "universal" sliders and side mounts, they would of been cheaper, but since i had them shipped to a GA address, and they are based in GA, i had to pay taxes. so you can probably get them for about $450 shipped, maybe even $425. i haggled with them, and they will take $425 without the sliders. maybe even $400, as long as you try hard enough. awesome seats and they bolt straight to the stock miata sliders. shoot them an email and ask!

Thanks to a friend on my other forum, i now have a Black Nakamae Dash and Gauge Hood Cover for my future 90-93 dash! here is an example picture of the dash pad and gauge hood cover i am "borrowing" from his build thread.

http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6226/6338503134_93a1d9ccc5_z.jpg

now i just have to get the rest of the nakamae stuff; hardtop headliner, trans tunnel, shelf, behind the seats, ect.

also been thinking about getting the nakamae bucket seats like these. i originally wanted the bride histrix, but being those are $3k+ for both, i guess these buckets will be pretty awesome alternative.

well the other night i was on San Diego Craigslist, and came across a red automatic 92 miata for only 1600. car runs and drives fine and everything works. odometer is broke, but i didnt really care since it runs and drives with no issues. so i bought it today for my wife because she doesnt know how to drive stick. so now me and my wife both have miatas!

here are both of them

yesterday i went to ProjectG and got a power steering "kit" for the wifes car since hers came factory with manual steering, and i will be installing that next weekend. and the day before i picked up my RS*R ExMag GT II exhaust! it looks damn good, and i cant wait to put it on, but unfortantly i have to. i ordered a straight cat from good-win-racing, which i should get on tuesday, and then i can install the RS*R. along with the exhaust, i was given a RS*R license plate frame, which i have never seen before, so its gotta be uber rare!

here is my new exhaust and license plate frame. =)

Also, in the mail yesterday i recieved my Nakamae Dash Cover along with the steering column cover! now i just need the rest of the Nakamae interior.... =p

as for nakamae though, i have never seen it in person until yesterday when i got it in the mail. and i must say that i am highly satisfied with it. the detail is awesome, it feels great, and even looks great. i am more impressed than i thought i would be. this is some damn good stuff here. =D

finally got my straight cat from brian at good-win-racing yesterday, and it was pouring down rain yesterday so i decided to wait until today to finally install my RS*R exhaust. i got it installed, and i must say, this damn exhaust is SEXY. i love the sound(no silencer) and it looks great on the car! i am very satisfied with the result.

In other news, i saw revlimiters blog on how he did a leather wrapped 1.6 dash, and it actually turned out pretty damn great looking. it got me wondering and thinking about selling my nakamae dash pad and go for the leather wrapped dash. i am still thinking about it though. i will wait until he installs the dash and see how it holds up before i make a decision.

thats all for now. no idea what im goign to do for next mods though...

well i just picked me up some wheels today. These wheels are(in my opinion) one of the best choice for the retro build theme i am going for. They are super rare because of the 4x100 lug pattern. i now have got "Smoothies". =D

15x8 +19 in the front, 15x8 +6 in the rear. now i just need tires and megan ezs so i can thorw them on the car.

they look exactly like these.

02-18-2012, 08:42 PM
well ive got some suspension. I didnt go with the megans this time.
http://i319.photobucket.com/albums/mm459/CxMoney/e0e78cb8.jpg

I got me some Tein Basics! hopefully i will be happy with them.

and i mocked up the wheels against the car and snapped some teaser pictures. =)

I had a chance to get a set of Work Ledsleds a while back, but they slipped through my fingers. Same effect, but these have better fitment.

yeah thats the smallest i can find for sale. i came across an old thread where some guy custom makes whitewall tires in anysize, and the 195/50R15 can be had for $380 before shipping.

maybe one day....

those wheels are awesome, love it!

Cxmoney
02-26-2012, 10:35 AM
i still have a long way to go. so far the wheels are the only exterior mod i have. =(

i still want a front lip, either R-lip or a GV style, the retro fuel lid, autokonexion ducktail trunk, retro luggage rack, and other misc items. just about to move into a house and ive got to buy household items hopefully in march so i wont have any extra monies for the miata for a bit

morr
02-26-2012, 12:45 PM
The new wheels look sick! I think the fuel lid will be a nice touch. Definitely gonna follow this build, I love retro inspired NA's :)

Cxmoney
02-26-2012, 11:27 PM
i am probably going to go with the OBX retro fuel lid cause it is only $95! haha. im cheap, but the OBX and ZOOM look exactly the same to me. i havent had either in my hands though, so if there is any differences, i dont know about them.

now i need KGW turn signal intakes and other misc retro exterior items.

Cxmoney
03-17-2012, 07:55 PM
well i was playing around in forza 4, and i found SMOOTHIES! so i just had to build a replica of my car. only thing is the moon caps say "cragar". lame. but it still looks cool!

http://i319.photobucket.com/albums/mm459/CxMoney/miata2.jpg

i also decided to take a few pictures to possible get some input on what to do with the front end! i took pictures with the factory R lip, GV lip, and the racing beat bumper! let me know what you think is best. i love how they all look. haha.

Cxmoney
04-07-2012, 10:55 AM
well i have finally moved into my permanent residence and i finally have a garage!

so now that i have a place to work on my car and put my parts somewhere, i can start collecting more parts. =)

so far while i was in GA picking up my wife, i managed to pick up a mint 1.6 dash. =) now to put it in my car, i will need a gauge hood and the tombstone.and right now i am waiting to hear back from a member on here for some teardrop speaker covers.

once the military pays me back for all the travel and stuff, i will be ordering a new roll bar in chrome, itll either be the clearview or the double hoop, i really cant decide, and i will probably be picking up some corbeau classics along with front and rear r-lips(or replica r-lips).

there are also some other things i am thinking about getting like the OBX retro fuel lid and possibly a G-wing.

Cxmoney
05-06-2012, 06:27 PM
I love my car. =)

installed mt Pitcrew rearveiw mirror, 1.6 dash, R front and rear lips, side skirts, and i drifted away a little from retro with the G-wing!

sometime this week i will be getting my corbeau classics, the boss frog stainless doublehoop, and my LE interior! I have a full LE interior comming in. only bad thing is the dash is cracked pretty bad. but i will be dong revlimiters leather wrap on it as in his blog about his 1.6 dash. =) car is going to be badass. i cant wait!

anyways, here are some pictures from a few minutes ago.

dammit i love those wheels. i have been looking all around for some like that. where did you find them?

Cxmoney
05-07-2012, 09:03 AM
Wheels are pretty rare. I seached everywhere, and was about to give up until i finally found these on a scion forum. They dont make the 4x100 lug pattern anymore, and havent for 9 years. Thats what i was told when i called the company to have them custom made. Now all they do is 5 and 6 lug.

Love your build cx. I'm thinking of swapping my dash to 1.6. How tough was the swap?

Cxmoney
05-07-2012, 02:39 PM
Swap is actually fairly easy. Hardest part is the wiring, and that is fairly easy as well. I will be selling this black one as soon as i leather wrap the top of LE dash and install it. Its a pain, but also a fun learning experience. :)

Cxmoney
05-09-2012, 09:17 PM
SOON....

http://i319.photobucket.com/albums/mm459/CxMoney/67e15279.jpg

Cxmoney
05-10-2012, 08:40 PM
well the LE dash came in today, looks great except for the cracks. hopefully i will do as good of a job or somewhat as good of a job as revlimiter did when leather wrapping his 1.6 dash, because i am going to need it!

Is that the final piece before the swap?

Phatmiata
05-11-2012, 09:44 AM
This will be a nice setup!! Why did you remove the tabs (nipples) off the dash for the toneau cover? Planning to fill them in or something?

Cxmoney
05-11-2012, 12:30 PM
Yes it is the final piece. Now all i need is to get my leather and power window kit and leather wrap the dash and install power windows then i can install the LE!

As for the "nipples", i didnt even know there was any there, i figured the previous owner had something there. I wont ever have a tonneau cover though, so ill be sanding em down and covering the holes with the leather that I am wrapping the top with.

My corbeau classics will be here next week, and my stainless double hoop will be here today!

morr
05-11-2012, 04:38 PM
Considering that one crack is the only real issue, you lucked out! I can't wait to see this all put together especially with the Classics. On that note, how tall are you? I just remember a lot of people taking out quite a bit of foam from the Classics, cuz they sit too high.

tomorrow the leather wrap begins! and hopefully it ends well. and i just want to say thank you to revlimiter for giving me the courage to buy a destroyed LE dash and repair it. ive never done anything like this before, and i feel it will be a great accomplishment. even getting this far, i feel like the car and i have something special. and if i am lucky enough to actually do the leather correctly, then my love for my car will be reborn.

so thank you revlimiter, thank you for the blog you made about your post, and helping me with my leather search. thank you for giving me the courage to undertake this dash project, and even get this far. hopefully i can complete this. =)

now on to the pictures!

i feel like ive accomplished quite alot(doesnt look like much, but it was a pain and there is some repairs made inside the dash as well for strengthening power. now hopefully the end result with be outstanding! i still need mesh for the vents though, but ive got the leather cut out already, tomorrow i am going to shape it and then glue it to the dash.

you shall see the end result soon!

Cxmoney
05-29-2012, 10:08 PM
well the LE dash was a big dissapointment. didnt work out how i wanted it to, the repairs kept breaking, even with all the supports i used, so i just got rid of it thanks to the garbage man. big waste of money and time for the dash and leather junk, but you live and learn. i learned to never attempt to fix a dash agian. haha.

still dissapointed though...

BUT, i have something to make up for the dissapointment!

can someone say nielex? =D

I want to so bad, only thing holdig me back is the cash.

Whenever i come back from deployment, i should have $10k-$20k saved up, so at that point money would not be a problem and the pitcrew along with GV tails will be mine.

There's a person here in Vegas that has a new uninstalled pitcrew front end that he was asking 3k for a few months ago. I'm pretty sure it's still sitting at his house waiting for you to pick it up :-)

Man your car is so blinged out. Do you plan on doing serious engine work to match the bling or just bolt ons?

Honestly i do not know. Original plan was to build the engine and ITB it or turbo, but with talk of a deployment very soon and comming home with $10k-20k cash, i am starting to get the V8 fever.

Haha. Eventually under the hood will be worked on, but i usually save that for last since it is the most expensive And put the car out of service. She runs and drives perfectly as she is right now, so i am in no rush. Now if the engine or trans went out, then the under the hood would have to be started.

Anyways...

Finally got my stirling installed. Combined with the KGW panel, they look amazing. A real retro vintage feel, the KGW panel gives a "deep" impression like the cars of the 60s, and the gauges from rev complete the look.

All in all, i love them.

That is actually what i originally really wanted, but now a crazy idea of getting the pitcrew front for this one, and then buying a NB for a LS v8 has peaked my interest.

But it all really boils down to how much exactly i am going to have when i get back. If i have enough for a pitcrew, LS2 swap, and a paint job, i am going to do it. Otherwise, plans might change. But one thing is for certain, and that is if i do get deployed, i AM getting the pitcrew whenever i come back. That is a guarantee. Ive lust for them too long, now i need one for myself. =D

Finally got my Nakamae seat covers for the 95M seats today. They look great!

Only thing is i thought they were actual upholstery, but they are actually seat covers. Really good fitting seat covers. So i was slightly disappointed i bought some very expensive seat covers, but you live and you learn. Nakamae does have top notch items an perfect color matching. I do like them though, and i will be installing them this weekend, hopefully they look good!

If not, then i guess real upholstery is on the future to get list. I really like The "LE to make purists cry" build thread on CR, (i forgot his name). He has some amazing ones from leatherseats.com that looks great, but we will see how these Nakamae ones go.*

But i think i have the only nakamae seat covers in te US, let alone the 95M style in the 93LE red.*

:)

Picture is only of one cover. The other is still in the packaging.*

Don't do it man. Take that money and make the car faster. Maybe a nice ITB setup with bigger cams or a nice turbo/supercharger.

I dont know man, just seems like it would be amazing with the pitcrew and a normal hardtop would not..

And ive got a secret... Ive been avoiding power mods because i have no idea about them or how to do them. I know absolutely nothing about any of the power mods like turbo, supercharger, and ITBs. Everytime i decide to get into thinking im ready, i think again and decide to stay stock. Haha. I dont want to spend alot of money to just blow my engine or buy something to install wrong and destroy it, etc. just playing it safe i guess.

One day i will go through with something though, but it might be awhile until i learn about all that stuff. Everyone tells me to read read read. Im a visual learner, i dont understand reading about it, i have to be shown about it. Hard to explain. Seems like supercharger is out of the question though since the mp62 kit is discontinued. I really want itbs, but that seems like a shitload of work and with itbs a daily driver is now out of the question. And turbo is just not as reliable as id like to think. Thats another reason i have no power mods, is because my car is dead reliable. I like that.

But one day ill make the step.

I<3flippyheadlights
10-09-2012, 05:58 PM
That makes total sense. I'm all about visual learning myself so boosting my car will be an experience. You're very lucky, you live in the land of Miatas! People out there can help you with anything you need. I would feel bad blowing up the engine in a car such as yours because its beautiful. But, I wouldn't want such a badass a car and not have power to back it up. My problem with JDM Palaces car. ITB's is tough to daily, that is known. But turbo chargers and super chargers can be VERY reliable at lower boost. grab an FMII kit, run 6-8 pounds and have fun. Or pick up a used mp62 kit and bolt it on. I like superchargers more for a daily. Less moving parts. Whatever you decide to do, it will be great.

Cxmoney
10-09-2012, 07:02 PM
yeah just hard to decide. haha. or i could just go V8 with the ford 5.0 or whatnot.

and yeah whatever i choose, i do have some help from the local san diego guys if i needed. they are a great bunch and extremely helpful. hopefully one of them knows how to tune a megasquirt if i go itb or turbo. or maybe one of them knows how to weld so i can v8 one day.

hell, maybe i should just drop the whole pitcrew and other accessories idea and just use all that cash for engine rebuild and then power...

turbotyla
10-09-2012, 07:14 PM
Woolery has the pitcrew and fastback and gv tails.

And I would have to say that it looks amazing. No one would ever know what kind of car it is.

Also its three different manufactures of after market parts that are classy and look great together and none were designed to be anywhere near each other.

I<3flippyheadlights
10-09-2012, 07:19 PM
You don't need to rebuild an engine for boost. Just check compression, fix any problems, maintenance it and boost.

Cxmoney
10-09-2012, 07:53 PM
turbotyla- i know right? i thought it looks amazing! but alot of people dont seem to think so... plus i have the vette lights, so i think it would look even better!

and for the engine build, id rebuild just to play it safe. like i said, i dont want it blowing up on me without getting my monies worth of driving, that would just piss me off and make me go into a rage and sell everything. haha. plus if i put power on the 1.8, i am getting a 99 head. i am honestly sick of the HLA tick. it drives me nuts. i am leaning more torwards the jenvey ITB setup or a 5.0 though

Cxmoney
10-10-2012, 04:39 PM
Rev9 wont email me back, so ITBs seem unlikely.

turbo and supercharge is still in question, but i really HATE buying certain things used, and those 2 are by far the #1 thing i do not want to buy used

V8 is still possible. it would take me awhile before i got all the parts and whatnot though, like XCLR8N it would take a long while to gather everythign i wanted and to get the car prepped and ready. so i would need a second car(perfect time to get a NB! >:))

i am also seriously considering a RHD swap. i have always wanted a rhd car, but seems the only easy way to get one is with a 240sx. so i am trying to just source a RHD clip from a miata so i can swap. i think thatd be awesome! but if i do the RHD swap, i will not be able to v8 swap, which is the con if i decide on V8. =(

gah so many options, so little monies/amount of na miatas. haha

That interior looks wonderful. I envy everyone with that cluster face, as well.
Exterior honestly doesn't look that bad right now, even with the plastic/primer-white. It looks obvious that its WIP (and I don't mean a honda WIP, which means it will never be done), and that the end-game will be quite nice :D

Finally back from paint, and looking sexy as hell. Damn i love my car to death.

i still have several things to install as well... ryoku rob raw tow hooks, LED visor plates, retrosound radio, nakamae interior bits, zoom center console, front and rear mudflaps, etc.

but the exterior is mostly done... unless i get my hands on a pitcrew.. =)

but the only other plans for exterior is zoom side winkers, cowl hood(when i finally go V8), possibly some r2-limited side stripes, and maybbeeeee some flares in the future. just maybe. but for now, i am happy with how it has turned out. =)

anyways.... ONTO THE PICTURES!!!!

As many of you already know, Revlimiter has the BEST gauges on the market, and the BEST customer service anyone could ask for. He goes above and beyond to ensure your order is correct, and even offers advice on how to make you order even better. last year I ordered a set of stirling gauges. loved them. but I wanted more. so last week I contacted rev to get a custom order done. we exchanged a few emails and ideas, and he updated me everytime something was going on with my order(printing, drying, mailing, etc) and they came out AMAZINGLY. I love them, and could not be happier. they drift away from the retro look, but in a good way(I think). plus when you build a retro car, not EVERYTHING has to be retro themed or inspired, just most things. =P

They still have the stirling feel and look, just with a few modifications. it is sort of like the stirling gauges went out with an "escort" one night and this is the result 8 months later.... haha.

needless to say, revlimiter makes some top notch work, like always, and never leaves a customer unsatisfied. I would(and will) continue to keep buying from him until he no longer provides for the Miata community. that's just how awesome his stuff and customer service is.

Now unfortunately for you guys, you wont get to see how they look until this weekend when I have the time for an install. but here is a terrible iphone camera teaser....

Well here is a little update.

installed all my nakamae stuff, zoom console, zoom drink holders, retrosound model two radio(panel is not done though. still needs leather, some switches, and whatnot. it is a work in progress, this panel was just a prototype), retromodern HVAC, cig plug, and dimmer switch, bikini top, removed rear lip(mainly because i fkd it up trying to get it to work with the mudflaps) and installed mudflaps, got the seats to an upholstery shop and got them to make the nakamae covers the actualy upholstery and not covers anymore, so they are tight and look a hell of alot better, and a few other odds and ends.

If I do decide to get the RK-Rs, I will be getting carbonmiata flares as well and deleting the mud flaps.

I just cannot decide on which set of wheels to get. I am at a complete loss. any inputs? I originally wanted the royal hyper black as it is really close to chrome/polished in certain lights, but now I am leaning towards the royal silver or maybe even raw. what do you guys think?

My vote is hyper black. Then when you get tired of them sell them to me :)

I really do like the hyper black... but does it go well with the retro/vintage vibe?

I vote Royal Silver.

Raw or royal silver
the royal silver is starting to grow on me.... maybe I can even get them polished by a shop or something then throw some clear coat over it? hmmm....

RAW, like the rear mags on the vintage drag cars.

I agree, the raw has a vintage feel to them... and what's nice is the subtle variation in texture between the centers and the polished lip.

No flares IMO. I wish Rota makes an RKR 5x9 +36. Obvious flares kills the vintage look I think. They look like after thoughts. Like the cladding the NB got. But if ur trying to achieve the racer look then yeah the flares makes sense.

Flares would be great if they were truly moulded flares, otherwise I agree they look like they were an afterthought. I love the look of natural raw aluminum with the polished lip.

CX, can you please reactivate you account so all your old pics show up again, or post some new pics. Your car was always an inspiration to me as you took some wild steps and I appreciate them. I am also sure I was not the only one that feels this way.

those red rocker panels are sexy. as far as wheels, the hyper black would contrast too much with the retro styling, and the raw is just bleh to me. Too boring and unfinished looking. I say hyper silver with no flares, or maybe just some custom metal work to bring the fenders out about two inches.

I'd definitely go with the raw. For pretty much every reason stated above.
Get raw.
Do it.

Royal Hyper Black with red caps, it will tie up all the chrome/polish door handle, gas cap, roll bars etc that Pandora has and obviously the red for the red interior. For the red stripes use "Pandora Roadster". And yes to moulded flares (or bond it in) coz it will come out as a clean mod. If you can even cut the flares to about half of the bulge size will make it look elegant.

Yeah let us see them pics again.

Well I just found out the raw was a custom made set and not available to a peasant like myself, unless I get legit wantanabes.... Which are a fortune! Haha.

So royal hyper black or the royal silver... Hmmm...

And my original photobucket was hacked and everything was erased. I only have a limited amount of pictures now, I may even just start a new build thread starting over from my most recent pictures.

Barring that, go with silver

It has since been changed. It bothered me as well. Lol.

It is now a joyfast leather brake handle with the stainless steel button.

Here is the updated picture of the brake handle. Not sure if I like it yet or not, but apparently there is NOTHING else matches the joyfast shift knob, and it bugs the hell out of me. Almost to the point where I am considering swapping them both out with something else that matches each other.

You need the IL Motorsports polished ebrake handle.

There aren't many SS brake handles. I live with the slight mismatch of the aluminum Voodoo handle and my Joyfast.

Great seeing this thread up top again!

i had the polished aluminum handle, but after a month it was dirty and dull. i tried cleaning it but it never looked shiny again, which is what made it stand out so bad. when it was new it wasnt a bad match at all. ill figure something out. may just go with a regular black knob and black ebrake handle or something like that. i need to browse around

Have the Joystick and Polished ebrake handle chromed.

i could do that, but i would have to find a chromer. i wouldnt do it to the joyfast one though, i would get a replacement knob and chrome it. ill search around to see what options are available and see what i can do.

Sorry didn't see this until now.

I did see those pieces by JASS and I might even pull the trigger! I'll be back home stateside in 2 months, so I still have a little bit to decide.

As for the wheels, I honestly have no idea who made them, there are no stamps, or any information on the inside of the wheels. But they are smoothies, and they are drilled 4x100 lug pattern. I've looked everywhere for a spare set, but have only found 1 other set that was 4x100, which MalibuQ had. Other than that, they are just the regular 5 and 6 lug wheels from old hotrods.

So I'm assuming the 4x100 sets are extremely rare. :)

I plan on getting a set of RKRs soon though so I can have both sets.
