Hey guys im trying to find a decent paint shop in So.Cal preferably OC. Not really trying to pay out the wazoo for paint but i understand "you get what you pay for." Let me know about your experiences and pricing for shops around the area. This could also be a thread for future reference for members. Thanks in advance

Dan

Had a recent very good experience with Beach Cities AC in Laguna Beach

They're not "cheap" but the quality is there and it's lifetime warrantied. I think I'm going to repaint my whole car there in a couple of month.

Didn't Kodi's guy close up shop?

I've actually had good luck with 1 day in orange. Just learn to not accept shit work, they will redo it until you're happy. Just might take a week or 2

Buddha paint is still there, if you want custom work done. then I highly recommend it. fair priced for simple things... emmi had his hardtop painted, and another member took his roll bar there to get it matched with his car.
they're main thing is motorcycles, they've done countless work on magazine/show bikes. Usually custom motorcycles have A LOT more attention to detail than most vehicles, especially in custom colors. So the work they do is top notch

prob seen this floating around the internet...custom mixed the color himself... the finish/feel is exactly like an anodized red.

Oh they'll do a paint job in 1 day, but if you want it right, you're going to be telling them to fix problems.

I'm the one that took my roll bar to Buddha Paint. He matched my Black Mica body paint for me (factory flake). It's the Boss Frog double hoop, so lots of curves on an already round surface, i.e., more difficult. After the first attempt, he noticed one little spot he wasn't pleased with, did it over. I am very pleased with his work, he's friendly and easy to work with. Charged me $240 with clear coat and all.

Since somebody scraped my front bumper cover, I'm eventually gonna take it in for him to respray also.

And, hey, that Bimmer wagon was in there when he was doing my roll bar. I had wondered how it turned out!

OOOMG, how much was the paint job (if you don't mind divulging that info)?

Is it OEM color paint? 2 stage or single stage paint? Was it only exterior that was painted, no interior door jambs, trunk etc..

Of course every job is different, but looking at how many dents were marked, I'd be interested to know what the cost is.

I went with OEM classic red full exterior repaint. With full NB2 large Tupperware repaint and install. The cost was suppose to be 3500$ which is regular across many reputable shops I know of. BUT that's not what I paid since I "know a guy, that knows a guy." :)

Pm me if you really want to know the price. I'm actually thinking about talking to the manager about getting a forum discount if I could get enough interest.

Dan, I am interested to see the finished product up close and personal. When do you expect the car to be done?

How much did that run you to know a guy that knows a guy? Because now everyone on the forum knows a guy that knows a guy that knows a guy. Haha.

But really, how much? I am going to paint mine soon hopefully.

Everything said and done I ended up paying 2300$ cash. They removed almost everything when painting which alot of shops do NOT do. I took the car home an did a thorough look over (OCD>ME) and I could not detect any orange peel, dirt spots under the paint or any running paint. So All in All, I'm satisfied with the product I recieved at the price I paid.

If anyone wants to have DTM paint your ISH talk to Manny (mgr) and tell him the Dan with the red miata told you the price. Or else the other guys will try to rip you a new one. Lol
