Had no idea they existed and Google returns only 2 results. Any of the living Miata encyclopedias in here that can recognise them? I have no idea on whether they are adjustable or not, and what they are like compared to other options, but a set came up for sale and I am quite tempted.

I came across a set of those from a JDM Miata that was being locally parted out. I called the company if they could rebuild it but the Ohlins USA told me they can't as these are JDM spec. They are not adjustable. IIRC the nut at the bottom is where they recharge the gas. I told Ken (GarageStar) about it and I think he bought it.

Thanks Ed! Seller told me that they are marked CH7-S0200-00 on the front and CH7-S0100-00 on the rear, and "made in Japan by SQQI". All I could find on the web is that Ohlins subcontracted those to a Japanese firm, that built them to Ohlins specs. Seemingly non-serviceable, non-adjustable.. wonder how good or bad could they be.

I would not say non-servicable, only that you need to get parts from Japan afaik. :)

Yup they could be serviced if you can source the parts needed. The question is if it is even worth it. I would guess that the billies will be much better.

I had a set of these, worked exceptionally well and I got a leaking one fixed by a local bike shop so they can be fixed. I wouldn't compare these to Bilsteins, but I don't rate Bilsteins at all to be honest

Thanks Russell! Original plan is to go with Bilsteins as I can get them serviced/revalved locally for relatively cheap. However, I am really tempted now. Does it happen to know spring rates for the Ohlins?

Harry iirc these were used on NA's would it matter?

Ill get them off his hands if he can't use them. Trust me, not many parts are left unused between me and Harry.

I've always wanted to pick a set of these up.. They look a little beat, but I'm sure they're holding up okay.. Depends on the price imo.

Springs are kinda soft on these. Not sure of the rates.

As above, the springs were on the soft side ... harder than the OEM standard shocks, but softer than the OEM Bilsteins. Worth also considering that I'm UK based, so the Bilsteins that we get are off JDM imports, so they are harder (I believe) than the springs on the US Bilsteins ... well done if you followed that!

Russell.
