I'm in the process of replacing any and all visible screws and bolts on my car with nice, new stainless fasteners, polished wherever possible. In case anyone else was considering doing some of this, here are all the sizes for the ones I could think of. Thought maybe it'll save someone some time!

INTERIOR
> Door sills (OEM)=8x #6 x ⅝” Phillips Truss Head Sheet Metal Screw
> Speaker covers (OEM teardrops)=These are a bit tricky. 10x #12 x 5/16” Oval Head Phillips Sheet Metal Screw will fit but they'll be sharp on the business end. So maybe I'll sand down? Not sure if there is another style of screw I should be looking for...
> Steering wheel (Nardi & Momo)=6x M5-.8 x 12+mm Allen Screws (I used the same size for my aluminum shifter surround as well so they match)
>>>For the following, I am personally just going with Mazda replacements unless I find a good source for black screws. So until then, here are the Mazda part #s:
> Rear view= 2x 998380525
> Visors= 4x 998620520B
> Console= 2x 998650516; 2x 998650516B
> Metal panel under steering column (name?)= 2x 998650516B

EXTERIOR
> License plate=2x M6-1 x 10+mm (for front, depending on mount); 2x M6-1 x 16+mm (rear)
> Side markers=8x #6 x ¾” Round Head Phillips Screw
> Turn signals=2x #6 1 ⅜”; 2x #6 2” Round Head Phillips Screw
> Frankenstein bolts replacements (if not using hardtop)=4x M8-1.25 X 25mm (+ washers to make flush)
> Wheel lugs (OEM)=16x M12-1.5 bolts, 21mm nuts
> Mirrors (M2, S800, et al)=???

ENGINE BAY
> Radiator panel=4x M6-1 x 20mm (+ washers to make flush)
> Fender bolts=???
> Valve cover=???

Obviously there are more that I'm not thinking of or haven't gotten to measuring. But if anyone out there has any additions, I'd gladly add them to this list.

BTW I got 99% of these from Gardner-Westcott. They have an excellent selection (especially in polished SS), good prices and no minimum. Recommended.

Great idea and a useful thread!

Soft top/HT latches: Torx socket cap M6x20 (3 per latch)
Striker plates: Torx socket cap M8x20 (2 per plate)
Chrome HT feet cover: Allen socket countersunk M4x10
NB2 strut brace: 4x M8x20 flanged bolts + washers
NB2 "baby teeth" front tow hooks: M10x30

EDIT: Again caught myself talking NB on an NA thread; however the hood/HT sizes are the same, since tops are practically the same

Yes those as well! Yeah I don't have an NB, but I am guessing that many of these would work for both.

Soft top latch machine screws: M6x1.0 20mm length.
Striker plate torque head bolt: M8x1.25
These are the most visible interior screws and also the most corroded almost always.

I was gonna swap out all the standard hardware in my hard dog rollbar for metric. Am I too OCD ??

You have to ask?

Take it a step further. Do the drivetrain too. I hate lugging around 2 sets of wrenches.

It would be interesting in having a complete list also for carpet pins, fender liner clips etc. Generic items that need replacing ever so and do not have to be OEM

Sure that would certainly be useful as well. As we know, at some point, the Mazda fasteners may not be available. Some are already NLA. And we also know how overpriced they can be.

These replacements I made for purely cosmetic reasons. Just to have pretty new hardware that aren't chewed up from use.
