A revolution in exhaust technology finally in a Miata application, our NC midpipe became an instant hit because if makes any muffler sound better on the NC. It features an exclusive Helmholtz Resonator that massively reduces the standing wave inside the exhaust system, reducing the 'booming' frequencies of 120-130hz by 48+db inside a top up Miata cabin which is a common source of complaints with aftermarket exhausts on the MX5.
We outfitted our Project 2012 PRHT Miata with a computer and sound spectrum analyzer and microphones and drove it under varying conditions and loads with mufflers and without any muffler to measure the frequencies coming out the midpipe. We then use that data and some special software to calculate the particulars of the Helmholtz chamber needed to precisely knock down the frequencies we do not want to hear while allowing the good throaty burble fun sounds to pass through. The result is all the fun, an almost exotic burble throaty result, without the drone! Note it is very dual personality because the effect of the Helmholtz is very frequency specific such that under decel it is mild and quiet, yet when you push hard toward redline it sounds exotic and racy. With the top down lots of fun throaty burble, but dramatically more tame when the top is up. In brief, FUN when you want it, and mild when just cruising.
Designed as a bolt-on replacement for the factory midpipe to carry higher flow all the way out any of our RoadsterSport mufflers. Designed and tuned to work best with our RoadsterSport NC Headers and mufflers. Simple Bolt on.

Following the huge popularity of our NC application "Q" Muffler this Q for ND is once again "Q" for Quiet version. This attenuation design is a premium "NO-DRONE" choice, great for those with manual transmission and especially for those with the AUTOMATIC transmission (which tends to keep the RPMS in the lower ranges where many exhaust choices drone). Smooth mandrel bent tubing redirects the flow for a side entrance to the muffler where we engineered a three chamber design. It would be much cheaper to just use a single big muffler with nothing but perforated pipe through the center surrounded by sound absorbing materials, but doing it right with the three chamber design allows us to tailor precisely the FUN sound you want when you push it toward redline, without the harsh drone on decel that the more simple designs make you suffer.

Most FUN Miata race muffler right here, yet not for everyone!
Call it Dual Personality, Call it Jekyll and Hyde, this is the Rebel in our exhaust lineup and the sound level result depends on what you are doing with the gas pedal and the gear selection. Slam the gas to the floor and run for redline and you get a wonderfully throaty throbbing exotic racing rumble with lots of burble that sounds BETTER than an MX5 Cup Car. BUT when you close throttle you do NOT get the drone and cabin resonance of those pure race cars, instead it gets mild on decel, downright quiet when just cruising in top gear on the freeway. What we have here is the first Miata Race muffler sane folks can really live with every day without pissing off the wife or the neighbors (unless they WANT to).

This is a heavily modified version of our all helmholtz Race muffler that adds an ultra efficient high density resonator before the tip to lower the volume significantly while keeping the fun burble and playful character of our Race muffler. We also add a unique ultra light version of our 3.5 inch RoadsterSport rolled tip pictured below to finish the look for our street customers wanting something more luxuriously finished than the aggressively lightweight Race muffler.
