Does anyone know what size(s) of flair nut wrenches does the Miata need especially for a clutch cylinders replacement job?

I see sets of three for $7 and sets of five from Sears for $40. I like craftsman but resist buying many more than I need.

10mm, same as brake lines.

harbor freight sells 3 and 5 piece sets very reasonable too.

I found it easiest to use a tiny set vice grips for the initial breaking of the nut. Flare nuts are soft, and crush easily (the jokes write themselves from here)

This is a case of getting what you pay for. I guarantee the cheap-o wrenches will spread, causing them to slip on the nuts and then you are well and truly screwed. If you don't want to spend the money, check at AutoZone and see if they have a set you can rent/borrow (I know they have some tools).

If I'm looking at $40 for craftsman, I start to think to let my mechanic have the money and broken knuckles.

Just pick up a 10/12mm flare wrench at Autozone/O'O'O reilly etc.
I have Snap-on set, but they're proud of them.
I also got a cheap one on the road, and they both have held up fine.

Of course, "flair nuts" might require more effort?

Miata guys look for any excuse. It’s just part of the culture. Besides, Dusty Rhodes was the best anyway (and I’m not even going to post a picture of a dusty road.)

Hopefully, you know which wrenches to get at this point. Personally, I’ve just used plain wrenches just fine.

Go figure. Turns out the nut on my new stainless steel clutch line requires an 11mm flair wrench. The three wrench kit that I just bought goes from ten to twelve. In Spinal Tap they go from ten to eleven. Sigh. So I buy one more wrench.
