From a '93 Montego Blue to a '95 Chaste White, both will make a revival of my obsession from August '17 accident.

Looks nice, love stock-looking FDs. What happened to the Montego?

Driving from Florida to Iowa to see in-laws. The car drive great as we just rebuilt the motor, rebuilt the transmission, installed supporting mods to whip around 400hp on the bnr stage 3 turbos.

On the end of the 3rd day, 30 miles away from our destination and 10 hours into the days drive taking scenic back roads and old historic highways, the road we chose to finish the complete drive was the wrong choice.

The black pavement turned gravel at the top of the hill. I was on cruise control with no feet on the pedals and with on hand on the steering wheel because the road before like it has been in the Midwest was a nice melodic drive of ups and downs on small hills.

Well, I immediately hit the brakes to cancel the cc and firmly grabbed the steering wheel as I yelled to Jeanne to HOLD ON. I corrected three times and brought the car to a more stable speed sliding all over the gravel going down hill before running off the side and sliding on top of a down tree.

Ah, crap. Well, as long as you are both OK, everything else can be re-done! Will you be transferring parts over?

Chaste White Rx-7s are sky rocketing in price right now. They are a Rare Color in the community and are now highly sought after. Highest Ive seen go was a low mileage Chaste white for roughly 30k-32k. CYM yellow rx7's following suit.

Again, only 500 FD's were imported in 1995 so they are a rare year too. I happen to have number 440/500 with a manufacturing date of 12/95

All the suspension components i.e. mazda competition bushing control arms, ohlins, built motor/tranny, greddy v-mount, everything is getting transferred over. The montego blue was shipped on monday from Iowa to New Jersey. The Chaste White is on its way tomorrow.

I love the CW FDs. Does it have a red interior? (*please say yes*, *please say yes*, *please say yes*)

I'm a little biased toward that color though. ;)

Red interior in FDs was an option and expensive. Not a lot of them have it. But I ha e a black interior and wish It was red. Lots of owners will replace their seats with a red recaro authentic spirit R seats which run ya 4-5k a pair or just plain red recaro seats that are similar but not the Spirit R seats that cost 1800+

17996179971799817999I had the horrible tint removed from the car. It was so bad that I couldn’t see out the rear hatch. But at the price of the defroster. Ugh! I live in a Florida so I’m okay.

The car was also shipped to IRperformance in New Jersey.
The car will meet up with the Montego blue to do a motor and full drivetrain swap, bushing and coilovers swap, turbos and all supporting mods of the twin turbo 404 hp into the Chaste White

While the motor is out, I have arranged a body shop to remove everything from the engine bay to be freshly painted.

The MB is already there and the CW left last night

That's a really nice Miata. What's your address anyway because I want to send flowers. Also, when do you and Jeanne sleep?

Engine is pulled and all the engine bay is stripped down for a paint job.
I ordered the greddy v-mount half kit to install in the chaste white Rx7. Everything At the condenser and below was destroyed in the accident.

I also ordered 18x9.5+40 fronts 18x10+40 rears te37SL in pressed graphite from Japan. Fronts will be wrapped in 255/30 and the rears 285/30s 1817718178

A reference pic of What 285s look like for the rears.

Renewal. All the upgrades on the Montego blue are being swapped over to the chaste white plus more. The car is going to need to be painted on the exterior, but we’ll wait for the bumper facelift for next year.

I’ve looked at some tires for the wheels and I am undecisive about my choices.

I want to start by saying that on the FD stock wheels, which are 16x8, I ran a phased out Bridgestone Potenza RE-11 and I was satisfied with the performance. I ran a tight alignment that prolonged the life and added stability for fast turns. I sometimes wish it was stickier while autocrossing because of the power management I had to learn. It also was good in the rain but was cautious at highway speeds of 55 or more.

The 18s will be stiffer since they are taller then the 16s and the 10s in the rear will help with stability and oversteering. The rears will have 265/35s.The 9.5s in front will be to help with the turning radius of the car. The front will have 255/35

I am concerned about safety but do not want to take away the fun of driving on high tread wear either.

I was considering the New Michelin Pilot Sport or the new Dunlop DIII.
The Michelin’s are rated really well but have a treadwear of 300 and I don’t feel they will be sticky enough to contain the 410hp that the Rx7 has twin turbo. On the other hand, the Dunlop D3 has 0 ratings.

My eyes are glazing at the cost of those tires. Anything over $100/tire makes my eyebrows twitch

You should take treadwear ratings with a healthy grain of salt.

A few 86 (FRS/BRZ) owners local to me have rave reviews of the D3s. These are heavy track guys with power upgrades. I have been happy with my Conti ESCs. They are about 90% of the grip I had with my Rival S, but they are a LOT quieter and terrific in the rain. The pricing was quite good as well.

I track my Miata on them, but the majority of their use is commuting around town. I accept that compromise and I feel it makes me a better driver because what I learn on the track translates to the street directly.

If I were doing TA/TT (time attack/time trials) again, I would run a separate set of tires and wheels for that.

The greddy v mount came through after a 8 week lead time from the company.
I also ordered the Dunlop Direzza III and will have them mounted on the SL’s with a touchless tire mounting machine.
