As good as my Roadster looks with the hard top on, I almost hate to cover up this Robins 3-Window soft top. When I first saw this top in a catalog I was like, "Meh...". Now that I get to look at it on my vintage-style car I'm like, "That's what's up!"

when i had my nb, i hated the blind spot (read: soft top) so that seems like a great option, steve.

I saw one of those in person and was pretty amazed. Amazed Mazda didn't do it to begin with.

i have been in 2 minds about these for years.

nearly got my hands on the KG Works version of a friend but it was damaged when he had a new roof fitted as he did not like the 3 window one!!

im still debating it myself 2 years on!

looks great on your car though

It really adds a lot to that retro 60's vibe the car has going on.

One of the next parts of my list. I never actually liked the Roadster as a soft top until I saw this style roof.

I think is the same that I have mounted before the Robbins
Haven't the window zipped and need a little too work to fit
Robbins are like the oem about the quality, but are out of production iirc

I've got a Robbins three window. (got it from Rspeed)
I was debating on going with either tan or black canvas, I'm really glad I went with the black option.
I just love the visual effect it had on my car, I feel it looks a lot more retro inspired than before. It also gives a whole lot better visibility to boot.

I do like the look of them if your going with the retro theme it helps pull it off very well.

I just got off the phone w/ Robbins, They said they have not produced this top in 3 years. Are your tops that old or have you purchased the recently?

If I would have seen a pic of this not on a car, I would throw up, but on the right car damn! Its pretty impressive I actually think its a very cool alternate to a hardtop, cuz usually IMO soft top down or hardtop on is the only way miatas look good!

I think mine was originally installed on my car back in 2006 or 2007. So...yeah. Old.

I've installed many tops, and I've never seen a zipperless, plastic window top that had the plastic last very long. I always go with Robbins, and try to sell people on the glass window, cloth top. Basically, you get what you pay for.

The 3-window idea is nice, but in time (and not very much time, indeed) those two side windows will crease and then begin to fail right where that crease forms. Cold weather exacerbates the situation.

A zippered, single plastic window is okay ( I still prefer glass), as long as you take care to always unzip it before lowering the top.

Not to knock the OP's new 3-window top and sound like a jerk, but that's my .02 cents. I do agree Robbins makes a good product.

is that price for the vinyl with the steel backbone of the top, or just the cloth?

I love the look of the three window tops. Right out of the old MGB days! Increased visibility....PLUS! If/when I have to replace another top on my red Miata, I will go for the three window.

Its funny, I have never liked any of the photos of cars with 3 window tops, Steve's included. Then I saw Steve's car in person and I totally changed my mind on it. It just seems to come across 1000% better in person.

I have a 3 window top on my NA, but I'm not sure if it is a Robbins brand top. It has plastic windows with no zipper. I bought it used from a friend - it was a take-off from his race car. The thing sat folded up on the frame in his shed for at least a year and there are creases in the plastic that won't come out :( It looks like crap but it was cheap and I was only worried about bridging the gap between when I can afford a hard top. Then I will be removing the soft top completely.

I love how much visibility I have with the 3 window top. MUCH better than in my NB with the stock top with glass window. I wish it was in better condition though :(

Yep that sounds about right, the car had a sunfast with a glass window when i bought it, I ended up selling that and using the money for that 3-window. I had a 3-window on my '92 Black & Tan so when I got the white NA I had to get the same top, I just loved it!
