Says sale is now pending, new (perspective) owner please stand up?

This is a awesome car, and Peter is and will always be an inspiring member of the Miata community.

I am sad to know he will no longer be the owner, but im sure the new owner will be REALLY happy to have this car.

Not many are willing to pay close to $13K for a Miata unless they know what they are getting. I think the car will stay in the family.

NAautoxer, what is BAT?

smaeda, I could not come up with them money fast enough though (banks won't loan money on old cars otherwise it would be in my driveway), I was actually saving money up for it, sold a ton of car parts recently, and was getting ready to list the Merlot which would pay for the difference, but I'm too slow I guess. I'll just go back to my other plans for the widebody NA.

I do love everything else about that car, but front end is just not for me. I'd kill for that engine/color combo though...

Count me as one of the dumbshits...

While I like the front bumper, the side and rear are a letdown. It's just so stock looking.

I would like to see the new owner put some flares and an Italia rear. (Not the bolt on / rivet look flares, but the AWR style widebody)

Strange, I always though Peter had that front end molded in and smoothed into the fenders? That would be about all I'd do to the car, and maybe fill in and smooth the side lines. Oooh, and some R2 retro strips along the doors as well.

Some of us have more refined automotive taste than the rest of the world.

BAT is generally a good site though. There's at least one car posted every day that I drool over.

hahahaha I like how they have rocks & bricks under the tires to keep the car in place, I guess the brakes don't work? LOL

That thing looks like the Disney Tram in wheels, LOL

I think the Blue Potato could pull off a duPont Registry ad easy.

Not even USAA? I used to work there, and have financed with them. They were giving loans for older stuff. Although in your defense I have seen you in little clothing and you already have a blue potato.

Wow, what a waste!! Why even bother purchasing this particular car if youre going to be undoing the whole thing that makes it what it is? I just went through the guys whole link about the car, the build, the ITRBs etc and fell in love with the car. For me, it needs a different rearend and maybe something else to complete the look, but otherwise it is stunning in execution and detail throughout. It would be an utter shame if someone bought it just to take it apart, thats what stock cars are for.

Can anyone see the pics is post 23? I cant see anything there and would rather not join the forum just to see them.

Thank you guys. Such a shame the car had gotten smashed. Im guessing thats the main reason for reverting it back to a stock front end though as it isnt as if he could just get the front end parts through his local Mazda dealer and have insurance pay for it. Id bet he was looking at a large personal cash payout to get the car back right and couldnt afford to do it right? Very sad to see such a unique car end up this way.

Sawyer, the reason we couldnt see your pics before was because we would have to sign in and be members of that other forum from where you were linking pics.

Maybe? Maybe not? Depends on the work involved. Also this was bumper was from the other side of the world, not like you will meet up with another owner of the same kit. If you like the kit a lot then this might be right up someone's alley. That front bumper when new had a retail price of 1980 yen! Now factor in how rare it is in the USA, and the fact that it is now out of production. Just saying there is a lot of other factors to consider.

If you were a professional body repair guy who could repair it for minimal effort, it is worth it. But if you had to pay someone to fix that? lol, that just kills the deal, imo. Just go ahead and buy a used accident free example.

As a guide on how much used examples go for, here's what Roadsternut said on the other forum:

If its any guide, I was offered a Pitcrew front clip, air shipped from New Zealand to the UK, for £500 all in ($750). Used part, so no taxes due on it.

Now, that's for non jacked up example that doesn't need any repairs.

With that said, do you still think $700 is a good price?

In the very same thread, it was noted that Tetsuya sold one for $400 (though it was chopped in half to save on shipping). Still think $700 was a good price?

I've talked to the new owner of the car at a few meets and he just doesn't seem to get the history of this car and what all went into it. He also didn't seem to understand a whole lot about the car itself. Quite a shame :/

Wow, $700 for that bumper. I'm impressed.

I was considering offering the kid a few hundred bucks plus shipping costs. Not sure if I would have even repaired it. The nose would have just been mounted in my garage as a tribute to one of my Roadster heroes.
